Samantha Jones's life just can't get much worse. Freshly fired from her tailoring job, she's living in her ancient VW bug, owes a loan shark thousands for her prostitute mother's funeral, and last--but surely not least--is staring at a big ol' hunk of a millionaire cowboy dressed in nothing but a black silk thong who wants her to pretend to be his fiancée for the night. (Okay, maybe that part's not so bad.) Jack Remington--the big ol' hunk in question--isn't having a great day, either. The airlines lost his luggage, including the tuxedo he needs to wear to a party for his beloved baby sister's engagement to a polo-playing playboy; his fiancée called off their engagement; and the tall, buxom woman with wild, red hair standing in his hotel room holding his new tux has just told him maybe his underwear need to be altered! Only an author of Patti Berg's caliber can turn this inauspicious beginning into a match made in heaven. Jack's sister is so happy to see him finally settling down that he just can't bring himself to tell her that his wealthy, successful fiancée dumped him and the woman with him at the engagement party is a fraud. So Jack makes Sam an offer she can't refuse--pretend to be his fiancée for just a little while longer and he'll pay off her debt to Johnnie Russo, West Hollywood's toughest creditor. But Sam and Jack both find their make-believe romance too easy to believe and too hard to let go.
