5.0 out of 5 stars What A Wifey!
I truly enjoyed this book. I read it in one night. "Wifey" is the tale of Kira and her unfaithful husband Ricky. Kira has lived through seven and a half years of insecurity and drama with Ricky.

She knows Ricky is a no good cheating dog, but yet she "puts up" with his ways because of what he does for her financially. He has done everything imaginable to...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Call Me A Hater Because I Hated It
Why do you have to be a hater because you give a review that's not favorable to the book? A review is just that, your opinion.

I'll say it loud - I DID NOT LIKE THIS BOOK!! I gave the author 1 star for two reasons: 1. That's as low as you can go. 2. The cover and synopsis on the back made you think this book was going to be fire. Psyche!! This was one...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Call Me A Hater Because I Hated It, June 1, 2006
This review is from: Wifey (Paperback)
Why do you have to be a hater because you give a review that's not favorable to the book? A review is just that, your opinion.

I'll say it loud - I DID NOT LIKE THIS BOOK!! I gave the author 1 star for two reasons: 1. That's as low as you can go. 2. The cover and synopsis on the back made you think this book was going to be fire. Psyche!! This was one of the most unbelievable books I've ever read. The title character Kira is married to Ricky the dope man. Ricky who is so smart that he discusses ALL of his business inside his house. Ricky who KNOWS that Kira is stealing from him but does nothing about it. What kind of top dog is this?

Don't let me even get started on Kira. Kira who lets her husband make babies all over the Tidewater area but thinks because she has a few fur coats and a wedding ring that she's running things. Kira who falls hard for her husband's associate that she claimed was so ugly but let end up treating her like the trick she is.

To top it off every other word was dat and den'. I know the author wanted you to get the slang but having those two words appear in every other sentence was ridiculous. Ms. Swinson also felt that she had to give ghetto translations (i.e. food means drugs). Stop doing that, it's stupid. I'm done. This book sucked!!

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Wifey!, December 31, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wifey (Paperback)
I truly enjoyed this book. I read it in one night. "Wifey" is the tale of Kira and her unfaithful husband Ricky. Kira has lived through seven and a half years of insecurity and drama with Ricky.

She knows Ricky is a no good cheating dog, but yet she "puts up" with his ways because of what he does for her financially. He has done everything imaginable to break her heart (have kids outside of the marriage, cheat with other women, disrespect from his baby mothers, and cheating with her co worker). What else can she take?

She becomes numb to Ricky's awful ways once her cousin (who is like a sister to her) gets caught up in the system due to carrying some of Ricky's weight. She see's that Ricky doesnt love her and he is just out for "self". She does the worst thing a "wifey" can do. She breaks the code of conduct and snitches on her man in order to free her cousin of misery.

She also breaks another code and gets too close to one of Ricky's hustling connects. Will she make it out the game of being wifey before Ricky finds out she is the cause of his downfall?

The suspence and drama of this book kept me glued. I kinda felt sorry for Kira @ the end, but I knew Russ was going to play her. She played herself big time.

I cant wait to read the sequel to this.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was a wakeup call for me...., May 13, 2005
This review is from: Wifey (Paperback)
I thought this book was a wakeup call for me because in reality, regardless of what some of the critics have to say....these things are really happening to some of our sisters out there. I have seen and experienced it first hand.... you might not want to accept it but this is real in a lot of women's lives. I hope that women will take a long look at themselves just like I did and know that there is a better way to live and have a decent life. KUDOs to this author!!!!!! Can't wait to read your next book!!!!

I read this book and I thought it was great. Everyone is giving it a bad review and saying don't waste your time. I loved this book. Yes, it could have had a little more action but it was still a page turner for me. And the ending made my mouth drop. I loved it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Met Expectations, December 25, 2005
By
This review is from: Wifey (Paperback)
I didn't have high expectations of this book and after I read it, it didn't change my mind. I'm sure that most of this is real, I've known several drug dealers who have dumb women such as Kira. I hated the grammar in this book. Did anybody other than the police have good grammar? I understand how you write how people talk but why in the world, did the grammar have to be terrible when she was thinking?? This book was simply average, definitely didn't keep me in anticipation, I'm glad I got it from the library, if I had've paid for this I would've been mad.

1.0 out of 5 stars MY BAD, I GAVE THIS BOOK TOO MANY STARS....., May 21, 2005

Can you say STUPID...DUMB...WASTE OF PAPER? Well that's exactly what this book is. If this chick can get published then anyone can. Matter fact, I think I'll write me a book. I'm sure whoever published this mess will be privliged if I gave them mine! Question: was the main character Kira stupid or just dumb? Check A or B. I really don't see what all the hype is about. The reason I'm reviewing this book in the first place is because I feel compelled to as a vivid reader of urban lit, not to mention mad of these reviews look SUSPECT. What's up with that? Every single person who reviewed it on May 14th loved it???????? *Eyebrows raised* Well I hope you have better luck next time, and if you don't please, no more books, you should try rapping or something. Your english is broken enough.

1.0 out of 5 stars I hope she steps her game up, August 23, 2005
This review is from: Wifey (Paperback)
This cover is Hot! I must admit I thought I was about to read something special, but this book was so terribly written. It was so plain and whack. " I did this, I did that. I really think the publisher should reconsider what they publish. This reflects on them. I will give KiKi another chance and I really hope she steps her game up. Good luck sister! But overall, this has to be the worst book I ever read ( honestly).
