Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Three books by Jonathan London, illus. by Michael Rex, commemorating everyday actions, cater to the littlest hands. Wiggle Waggle makes music out of the simplest animal actions. "How does a duck walk? Wiggle waggle, wiggle, waggle." The question repeats throughout, each time substituting a different creature. Snuggle Wuggle asks how animals hug; Crunch Munch is an homage to eating.

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 1The question-and-answer structure of this text (How does a pig walk? Snuffle root, snuffle root.) and the large illustrations make Wiggle Waggle ideal for use with very young children and for beginning readers. The flat pictures done in colored pencils make the book easy to use with storytime groupseven when children are scattered across the roomand theyre sure to enjoy imitating the Flop! Flop! Flop! of the frog, the Bumble Roll, Bumble Roll of the bear, and more. The layout includes some variation of font size and style to mirror the animals gait. An action-packed winner for toddler and preschool storytimes.Gale W. Sherman, Pocatello Public Library, ID

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book - but the two versions are not the same!, April 23, 2004
By
This review is from: Wiggle Waggle (Board book)
My 3 year old son checked this book out from the library and fell in love with it. It's a great book. I ordered the "hardcover" version, which is actually a board book and is missing the end part of the story. The school and library binding edition includes a re-cap at the end that is not in the board book. I decided to order the school and library binding edition for my son and save the board book to give as a gift. I wish the description had included that the two versions are not the same!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for interaction, April 16, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Wiggle Waggle (Hardcover)
I am a Kindermusik teacher and just used this book for the first time in my 18 month-3 year old class and they LOVED it! The text is great for repetition of animal sounds/walking sounds, the illustrations are uncluttered and colorful. It is just the right length and the recap at the end gives the kids a chance to repeat everything that we've done before. It will be great fun adding movements to the book in the upcoming weeks. Great book for scaffolding ideas.

This review is from: Wiggle Waggle (Board book)
I read this in my tot-time (lap sit) storytime group. The toddlers, some older, some younger, and the adults all had fun with this book. This book not only provides fun and laughter all around it is a great learning excercise. The toddlers and I tried to move like the animals in the book! Delightful! This book knows the attention span of toddlers and hits the spot!
