Very Entertaining for CHILDREN,
By W Monroe "Wmonroe" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wiggles - Cold Spaghetti Western (DVD)
I just had to write a review after reading some of the others here. First of all, this is a movie geared toward very small children, not adults. The Wiggles get better and better all the time, and it shows in this movie. Sure, it's a little different and not exactly like the Wiggles TV show. But if you want to watch the show, tape 6 hours of them on a video tape. This is supposed to be a movie. My 16 month loves the Wiggles, and he loves this one just as much as his other Wiggles movies.
The Wiggles look very nice in their western inspired outfits, but they stay true to their colors. The plot is simple, and silly enough for kids to enjoy. Lots of new catchy songs, colorful characters, and funny action to enjoy. It is not your typical western movie, but the title "Cold Spaghetti Western" should give you a hint that it's not. What did one reviewer pretending to be "Siskel or Ebert" expect? A shoot out at the OK Corral? This movie was never meant to fully entertain an adult. Adults and teens need to lighten up and stop putting down kids shows. Very small children don't analyze everything that goes on in a movie like this or try to find something wrong with it. They take it at face value. Something that adults could learn from their toddlers. I think that the Wiggles are very talented children entertainers. They are pure, simple, and timeless. I am glad they don't rap, or that they don't try to do alot of vocal gymnastics. I am glad they don't try to modernize everything and follow the latest fads. In my opinion, The Wiggles is one of the only wholesome kid's shows that is out there. So if your child loves the Wiggles, and your main concern is what your child likes, and not what you like, both of you will definately love this movie. So sit down and enjoy this movie with your child, and try to remember that you didn't buy it for yourself, and what you think about it doesn't matter. This is an excellent children's movie, but if you are one of those people who put down and analyze all kid's shows you will probably find something wrong with it anyway. In that case, I guess you will have to buy some earplugs and your child will unfortunately have to enjoy it without you.

Disappointment,
By Stacy F. "baybreez" (Long Island, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Wiggles - Cold Spaghetti Western (DVD)
We are big Wiggles fans in our house, and were very excited to finally see this new one. It was very disappointing. My son kept leaving the room, which he never does when the Wiggles are on. I think the problem is that they have lots of other people singing the songs, and sometimes the Wiggles are singing in such elaborate costumes, my son didn't even realize it was them. A lot of the songs are either sung with heavy accents, or for some reason hard to understand. Also, with the whole thing shot as live action somewhere in Australia (I assume) it didn't have the same fun and colorful feel as their sets. The best part to me was the bonus "Asian Postcard" which I'm sure is for adults because they are just filming their travels on tour from place to place in Asia. It was a great way to see these talented people as they really are, and get a sense of what life on the road is all about.

Okay, we are true Wigglers in our house and own just about all of their videos or DVDs. Now, on this one, I definitely suggest getting the DVD because they have awesome footage of the Wiggles touring Japan and China. When your kids get older and seemingly outgrow the Wiggles, this footage will definitely be helpful and educational still. I truly appreciated seeing the Great Wall of China and knowing that they did concerts for our servicemen there for $1 a ticket. That's pretty awesome!Regarding the Cold Spaghetti movie itself, I think it's better for older kids because they'll be able to follow the storyline a bit better than young toddlers. It's not a typical Wiggles video but it's a movie and is designed as such. It has some great songs a few stinkers ("Chasing the Birdie"), but all-in-all, it's worth the money. "Masta Pasta Maker" and "We're the Cowboys" are great songs and you'll find yourself singing them all day long. My little guy decided to boot scoot the rest of the day! He really liked the western theme. It drags a little so you'll have trouble keeping the little ones interested which is why I suggested this one for the older ones. To me, it seems that the Wiggles are trying new things to keep it fresh which I find to be very refreshing and pertinent for kids. I think folks need to be a little more understanding on why the Wiggly dancers are there - Greg is the youngest at 31, Jeff is 50, Murray is 42 and Anthony is 40, almost 41. There's only so much they can do for long periods of time because of the age situation so keep that in mind. I don't care for the Wiggly dancers myself either - the outfits are very distracting and hokey so I wish they'd do something about that part. But, they'll have to do something - Jeff won't be able to rollerskate like he did on Wiggly Safari forever! It's just too hard to do as many shows as they do on tour and to keep up with all those dances. If you've ever seen them live, you know how hard they work on that stage so somewhere, something will have to slow down eventually, unfortunately! If you've ever been in the music biz like I have, you'd understand what goes on to get these videos to market. Also, check out their touring schedule on their internet site to see just how horrifically busy they are. Worst schedule I've ever seen and how they do it, I have no idea. How they manage to write new songs, do these videos, tour incessantly and still see their families is just a miracle to me. So, cut them some slack - they're one of the few groups out there that really do care about what kids are watching and learning and willing to give what they've got to help your kids get the start that they need. I don't have to screen their videos before we watch them which is very refreshing to me. I can't say that for other children's videos. Buy the DVD - you'll enjoy it!
