I just had to write a review after reading some of the others here. First of all, this is a movie geared toward very small children, not adults. 5.0 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining for CHILDREN, April 21, 2006
I just had to write a review after reading some of the others here. First of all, this is a movie geared toward very small children, not adults. The Wiggles get better and better all the time, and it shows in this movie. Sure, it's a little different and not exactly like the Wiggles TV show. But if you want to watch the show, tape 6 hours of them on a video tape. This is supposed to be a movie. My 16 month loves the Wiggles, and he loves this one just as much as his other Wiggles movies.

The Wiggles look very nice in their western inspired outfits, but they stay true to their colors. The plot is simple, and silly enough for kids to enjoy. Lots of new catchy songs, colorful characters, and funny action to enjoy.

It is not your typical western movie, but the title "Cold Spaghetti Western" should give you a hint that it's not. What did one reviewer pretending to be "Siskel or Ebert" expect? A shoot out at the OK Corral? This movie was never meant to fully entertain an adult. Adults and teens need to lighten up and stop putting down kids shows. Very small children don't analyze everything that goes on in a movie like this or try to find something wrong with it. They take it at face value. Something that adults could learn from their toddlers.

I think that the Wiggles are very talented children entertainers. They are pure, simple, and timeless. I am glad they don't rap, or that they don't try to do alot of vocal gymnastics. I am glad they don't try to modernize everything and follow the latest fads. In my opinion, The Wiggles is one of the only wholesome kid's shows that is out there.

So if your child loves the Wiggles, and your main concern is what your child likes, and not what you like, both of you will definately love this movie. So sit down and enjoy this movie with your child, and try to remember that you didn't buy it for yourself, and what you think about it doesn't matter. This is an excellent children's movie, but if you are one of those people who put down and analyze all kid's shows you will probably find something wrong with it anyway. In that case, I guess you will have to buy some earplugs and your child will unfortunately have to enjoy it without you.

We are big Wiggles fans in our house, and were very excited to finally see this new one. It was very disappointing. My son kept leaving the room, which he never does when the Wiggles are on. I think the problem is that they have lots of other people singing the songs, and sometimes the Wiggles are singing in such elaborate costumes, my son didn't even realize it was them. A lot of the songs are either sung with heavy accents, or for some reason hard to understand. Also, with the whole thing shot as live action somewhere in Australia (I assume) it didn't have the same fun and colorful feel as their sets. The best part to me was the bonus "Asian Postcard" which I'm sure is for adults because they are just filming their travels on tour from place to place in Asia. It was a great way to see these talented people as they really are, and get a sense of what life on the road is all about.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as others have suggested..., April 19, 2004

Okay, we are true Wigglers in our house and own just about all of their videos or DVDs. Now, on this one, I definitely suggest getting the DVD because they have awesome footage of the Wiggles touring Japan and China. When your kids get older and seemingly outgrow the Wiggles, this footage will definitely be helpful and educational still. I truly appreciated seeing the Great Wall of China and knowing that they did concerts for our servicemen there for $1 a ticket. That's pretty awesome!

Regarding the Cold Spaghetti movie itself, I think it's better for older kids because they'll be able to follow the storyline a bit better than young toddlers. It's not a typical Wiggles video but it's a movie and is designed as such. It has some great songs a few stinkers ("Chasing the Birdie"), but all-in-all, it's worth the money. "Masta Pasta Maker" and "We're the Cowboys" are great songs and you'll find yourself singing them all day long. My little guy decided to boot scoot the rest of the day! He really liked the western theme. It drags a little so you'll have trouble keeping the little ones interested which is why I suggested this one for the older ones.

To me, it seems that the Wiggles are trying new things to keep it fresh which I find to be very refreshing and pertinent for kids. I think folks need to be a little more understanding on why the Wiggly dancers are there - Greg is the youngest at 31, Jeff is 50, Murray is 42 and Anthony is 40, almost 41. There's only so much they can do for long periods of time because of the age situation so keep that in mind. I don't care for the Wiggly dancers myself either - the outfits are very distracting and hokey so I wish they'd do something about that part. But, they'll have to do something - Jeff won't be able to rollerskate like he did on Wiggly Safari forever! It's just too hard to do as many shows as they do on tour and to keep up with all those dances. If you've ever seen them live, you know how hard they work on that stage so somewhere, something will have to slow down eventually, unfortunately! If you've ever been in the music biz like I have, you'd understand what goes on to get these videos to market. Also, check out their touring schedule on their internet site to see just how horrifically busy they are. Worst schedule I've ever seen and how they do it, I have no idea. How they manage to write new songs, do these videos, tour incessantly and still see their families is just a miracle to me. So, cut them some slack - they're one of the few groups out there that really do care about what kids are watching and learning and willing to give what they've got to help your kids get the start that they need. I don't have to screen their videos before we watch them which is very refreshing to me. I can't say that for other children's videos.

Buy the DVD - you'll enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Our 3 Year Old Loves It, April 24, 2004

Our three year old really likes this DVD. He now asks us if he can watch the Cowboy Wiggles. The Wiggles do have a knack for knowing how to entertain children, and this DVD does a good job entertaining children. Yes, it is pretty dumb, but it would be unfair to judge this movie from an adult's perspective. All of the dumb gags and songs are intended for children, and they seem to work. We are giving this 5 stars because our son really enjoys it.

It would be nice if the Wiggles used children dancers like they did in thier early DVDs. Also, if you are new to the Wiggles, you would be better off starting Wiggle Time, Toot Toot, or Yummy Yummy.

As bonus material, the DVD includes an enjoyable behind the scenes video from their tour of Asia. It's kind of fun to see them getting ready for a show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lighten up!, November 8, 2005

My kids and I love this movie. It is not fine film-making, but few kid movies are. (Look at any Disney sequel produced in the last 20 years.) The music is great, the dancing is fun, and the plot isn't THAT bad.

4.0 out of 5 stars My daughter is addicted, January 22, 2005
I bought this dvd for my 2 1/2 yr old daughters birthday last year and she LOVES it. I find it extremely annoying (basing that I keep getting the songs stuck in my head, but I love the line "Do you hear the drums Fernando?" which only ABBA fans will recognize). However my daughter loves it and attempts to watch it 3 or more times a day. Young kids will love it but be prepared to make it "magically" dissappear for a while so your brain doesn't explode.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Not typical western themes, July 5, 2004
By A Customer
First Wiggles video here. Not a veteran. But my daughter liked it and there are a few very good songs. Masta Pasta Maker, We are Cowboys.
The good: they depart from typical western myth, there are Mexican older kids singing and dancing along with a Mariachi (sp?) band, great opportunity to bring the spanish language and Mexican culture in, Captain is helpful in this one, there is drama but no "bad guy" to blame everything on.
The less than good: a couple of songs are forced, the plot is thin, the professional dancers are too staged, the Foodman is a helpful guy but odd and his presence is totally unexplained (is he a figment of Anthony's imagination?).
Not your first Wiggles video maybe but they do a great job with teamwork.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best So Far, January 29, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Like most two year olds, my little boy watches a lot of the wiggles, which of course means my wife and I watch a lot of the wiggles as well. We own a good size handfull of wiggles DVDs and this one really stands out. For the most part their movies are a series of music videos with a touch of lead in before each but this one is more like a musical, with a complete story that runs throughout with songs woven in. This one also threw in an interesting mix of culture by weaving Mexican and Italian characters and songs into the story. As a parent I feel it's crucial for kids to experience as wide range of cultures and styles as possible to drive home the idea that people are different and that diversity is cool. If comes in the form of a wiggles movie, all the better.

I shouldn't fail to metion that 'Cold Spaghetti Western' is playing in my living room as I write this review and I'm singing along.

5.0 out of 5 stars Had to add my two cents after reading some of these reviews., February 28, 2005
My daughter (17 Months)is hooked on the Wiggles just like so many other children. I wanted to get a wiggles DVD that did not have all the same songs that were on TV all the time. Let`s Go To The Great Western Cafe, Follow The Bird, Foodman, We`re The Cowboys and Farewell To The Wiggly Trail are all catchy tunes. Now we have the CD and she almost bounces out her car seat listening to Listen To The Drummer Playing. Different strokes for different folks and these folks love it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Big Fan...Bad Movie, July 9, 2004
By
Melinda Mejia (Rio Grande, Tx United States) - See all my reviews
My two year old son and I love the Wiggles. But this is the least favorite of all our Wiggles movies. A few of the songs are enjoyable and catchy, especially the one about the "Patito" because the young boy who sings it has a strong and beautiful singing voice, but for the most part the entire movie was ANNOYING. And they got it all wrong - spaghetti is Italian, mariachis are Mexican, cowboys are American, so how are they supposed to be related in this story? They kind of just throw in all these different cultures and don't quite make a connection. Nevertheless, my son will sit through parts of the movie as he loves anything Wiggles. But I wouldn't recommend it.
