4.0 out of 5 stars Very good for an old tape!
I waited many months to buy this one. I have all the other Wiggles tapes and CD's, but the reviews on this one kept me back. I finally broke down and bought it since our baby watches The Wiggles EVERY night before bed, and nothing else will work to sooth her to sleep! I find this 1995 release to be very good, despite the bad reviews. The songs are well done and very...

My two daughters (ages 3 and 18 mos.) love the Wiggles and this particular program is loads of fun. Both girls dance, jump around and have a blast to this program. However, I was extremely disappointed with the DVD transfer. Hit Entertainment obviously doesn't think parents care a hoot about DVD production values on kids titles. There are no menus (the video simply begins when the tape loads), no features (a song menu would have been the least we could expect), and finally--and this is absolute rock bottom--the chapter stops are completely random, often coming in the middle of a song or skit. I realize this is an old tape being re-released on DVD, but someone should have at least put the chapter stops at logical points throughout the program and given viewers a menu so that we could get to our kids' favorite spots quickly. It's a shame that such little care was put into the DVD production values for such a good program. It is worth owning because my girls love the program, but from a DVD standpoint, it is a big disappointment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good for an old tape!, August 8, 2001
This review is from: The Wiggles - Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I waited many months to buy this one. I have all the other Wiggles tapes and CD's, but the reviews on this one kept me back. I finally broke down and bought it since our baby watches The Wiggles EVERY night before bed, and nothing else will work to sooth her to sleep! I find this 1995 release to be very good, despite the bad reviews. The songs are well done and very catchy. I even ordered the CD! It is less polished then the others, but they use the same format of sing and dance and there are lots of children on this tape, which my 11 month old loves to see! Captain Feathersword is not with the Wiggles yet and is played by Anthony or his two brothers, and Dorothy the Dinosaur and Henry the Octopus both have awful costumes, but still you get the idea. It certainly is not the best Wiggles tape, but it is nice to see the boys so young and fresh. My baby claps her hands and bounces up and down to this tape just as she does to all of them. Wakeup Jeff, Wiggle Time and Toot Toot are the best though. It was upsetting that Lyric Studios deceived us in there packaging of this tape with 2001 on it and the new character costumes! It should show The Wiggles as there are in the tape on the cover and tell the year it was taped: 1995. Other then that I, and my baby, really like it. Don't hesitate to buy this one to add to your Wiggles collection!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's all about the Kids, January 18, 2003
This review is from: The Wiggles - Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
OK, Anthony needs a serious haircut in this one, there are 3 Captain Featherswords (the field brothers actually), the video quality is poor and the sound quality isnt much better, BUT this is an excellent video. The music is very good and it is very entertaining for my little boy. It is a classic wiggles video. It has all the elements of what makes the wiggles such hits, great music, easy dances, and 4 colorful guys with their wiggly friends Wags, Dorothy, the Captain and Henry the Octopus. I would love to see them remake this video but since I dont see that happening in the near future I would say that this is a great video that your children will love (just make sure that your kids dont see you laughing at it as they are watching)

2.0 out of 5 stars The Wiggles cashing out? Not too hot..., April 7, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wiggles - Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Our 2 year olds love the Wiggles, but they actually walked out of the room on this video! Almost looks like The Wiggles are cashing out by publishing obviously OLD videos of theirs as a "new release". Maybe its their publisher doing this, but the quality is poor compared to more recent productions, and some of the songs are actually pretty lame (also compared to more recent productions). If you are a Wiggles fanatic, you'll probably buy this anyway, but you'll be disappointed. If you're new to The Wiggles, don't buy this: buy Wiggle Time, Wake Up Jeff, Toot Toot, or Yummy Yummy instead. Those will not disappoint.

4.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, GOOD tunes!, August 29, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wiggles - Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Our 2.5 year old and 15 month old are insanely into the Wiggles. It is truly scary. First viewing of this video left me feeling like they wouldn't want to see it again. Bad quality sound and visuals. HOWEVER, for some reason, this is the one they want to watch over and over again. And I have to say the tunes are very catchy. Many times I have found myself humming "The Friendly Pirate Ship" at work (so much for that promotion). I think this one is worth buying, even though it can be hard to look at. Let's face it, the quality on the others is just barely better than amatuer anyway. Kids just love these guys.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad video, but I feel sooo misled!, May 26, 2003

This review is from: The Wiggles - Dance Party (DVD)
I was dissapointed with this DVD. And it has nothing to do with the quality, albeit poor. It is entertaining to see an early video with Anthony in a short-sleeved golf shirt(green!), as well as playing Captain Feathersword. And what is up with his hair? And Dorothy, well.... My son and I are huge Wiggle fans!! And we both like the video!

The dissapointment is from the fact that I didn't know what I was buying. Like others have said, the pictures on the DVD cover show them as they are today, and the copyright date on the back is 2002. I was under the impression I was buying a recent video. Had it said the real date, I would have no reason to be upset. I wish that I had read the reviews before buying, so consider yourself warned!

2.0 out of 5 stars We love The Wiggles but..... This was not good!, April 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wiggles - Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The new video Dance Party must have been when they just started out cause even the Big Red Car was made out of plywood. My kids still danced but when it was over they wanted to watch Yummy Yummy video instead. The songs are not as fun as in there other videos.

5.0 out of 5 stars We LOVE this video!, February 20, 2002

This is the first Wiggles video our family had seen, and we love it. My 17 month old daughter asks for it all day by doing the "Di dicky do dum" dance. I find it interesting that other reviewers complained about the lack of quality compared to more recent releases. We just bought the "Wiggly Wiggly World" recent release and were terribly dissapointed--teenage dancers instead of kids, moves my kids can't follow, horrible short short haircuts on the guys, and music and sets that are too complex and overpowering for toddlers. We'll be watching the "Dance Party" video for years.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware, April 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wiggles - Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I pre-ordered this tape 3 months before its release thinking it was the new Wiggles tape. We have all the other tapes available in the US and Canada and were looking forward to getting this one "hot off the press", so to speak. The cover shows the present day Wiggles and even says on the box that it is copyrighted 2001. However, by the first song, it was clear that something was wrong. Anthony's hair was wild and he was wearing a green short sleeved shirt. With his five o'clock shadow and messy appearance, he looked like he just rolled out of bed after a hard night of partying (and not just dance partying). Murray's hair length and hair style changed from song to song. But the strangest sight of all was that of Captain Feathersword. The first time he appeared was from a distance and it looked like he lost a lot of weight. By the next appearance, it was clear that in fact it was Anthony dressed up as Captain Feathersword. Finally, by the end of the tape, there was yet another person (one of Anthony's brothers according to the credits) appearing as Captain Feathersword. All in all, it was rather disconcerting.

When the final credits rolled, the tape says that it is copyrighted in 1995. I have no problem with buying an early Wiggles tape if I knew in advance that was what I was getting but I am very disappointed about it being presented as new product when clearly it is not.

Overall, the tape seems draggy, spotty, and not anywhere in the same league as the other 5 releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets your kids up and wiggling!!!!!!!!!!!, April 1, 2002
By
This review is from: The Wiggles - Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I'm suprised by what other reviewers have said. This was the first Wiggles tape we bought and I'll tell you - my kids didn't care about funny haircuts or lackluster sets. They love this video for what it truly is - a wonderful upbeat collection of fun songs that inspires them to jump, dance and wiggle along. I love the music myself. Best of all, this video contains tons of little children dancing along with The Wiggles. We're impressed - and we just bought Toot, Toot and Wiggle Time to expand our collection. If they make my kids half as happy as this video, I'll be pleased.
