4.0 out of 5 stars Hoop-Dee-Doo & Yummy Yummy are the best!
My 21 month old loves the Wiggles!!! Out of the 4 Wiggles DVD's we have, the songs on Hoop-Dee-Doo aren't as catchy as the songs in Yummy Yummy. Yummy Yummy is a better DVD for the little little one's- less skits, more singing & dancing. As my son got older, (he's 21 months now) he favored Hoop-Dee-Doo. Hoop-dee-doo has much better effects and is more modern. More...

3.0 out of 5 stars Higher budget, lower entertainment value
My 16 month-old loves the Wiggles, and after a few skeptical viewings on Playhouse Disney, so do I. We have Wiggle Time and Wiggly, Wiggly World. My daughter is just getting to the age when she tries to mimic the dance moves and hand motions she sees. So it is somewhat disappointing to see less of the fun and easy choreography that marked the Wiggles earlier works...

More children are involved in this video and after the second or third time watching, you'll find yourself singing along. While Yummy Yummy used to be his favorite from 15-20 months old, Hoop-Dee-Doo is now his favorite. I'd recommend both titles. He couldn't sit still through the Wiggles Magical Adventure Movie... I'd recommend that one for older viewers. Dance Party is cute but definately outdated. After he got used to watching the other titles, he got very bored w/ Dance Party.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our favourite Wiggles Video, February 22, 2002
By
Deanna Hockey (Sydney, Australia) - See all my reviews
This is the latest video from The Wiggles - maybe I'm biased being from Australia but these guys are great. My girls love them (1 and 2.5 years)and dance and sing along to their favourite songs. Each song has simple dance moves so that your toddler can easily copy Jeff(Purple Wiggle), Murray (Red Wiggle), Greg (Yellow Wiggle) and Anthony (Blue Wiggle). Captain Feathersword (the friendly Pirate), Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog and Henry the Octopus all feature in this video as well.
What I like about The Wiggles is that the guys really enjoy what they do, they have a great time singing and dancing for the kids and the kids love it. You can really tell they love what they do.
This video has lots of kids dancing and getting involved in the songs as well as one song which is all animation which is pretty cute - "Caveland".

My 16 month-old loves the Wiggles, and after a few skeptical viewings on Playhouse Disney, so do I. We have Wiggle Time and Wiggly, Wiggly World. My daughter is just getting to the age when she tries to mimic the dance moves and hand motions she sees. So it is somewhat disappointing to see less of the fun and easy choreography that marked the Wiggles earlier works. There is nothing for her to try and imitate, so she loses interest more quickly. It seems that most of the choreography is somewhat random, as there are many children of different ages and abilities throughout the video. The songs are lots of fun, however, and quite catchy (maybe moreso for me than for my kid!). The graphic backgrounds don't bother me as much as some other reviewers, although they do get repetitive after a while. And while I love Capt. Feathersword, he tends to get rather shrill sometimes. I think he's quite talented, but his voice can get an octave or two too high. Overall, I love the Wiggles' commitment to entertaining children. They always look like they tremendously enjoy what they're doing. And it is fun to try and pick out Greg and Murray's kids and Anthony's neice and nephew. But this video doesn't have quite the loopy joi de vivre that most of the others have. This may be better for older kids, but I don't think it will hold a toddlers interest as much.

1.0 out of 5 stars Love the Wiggles, but this one is WAY too glitsy & intense., August 5, 2002
By A Customer
We LOVE the Wiggles, but this video is WAY too intense and glitsy for the younger fans. We only let our 12-month old daughter watch a couple of videos, and always with us: a few of the KidSongs (e.g. Old McDonald's Farm) Videos and the Wiggles.

We LOVE the WIGGLE TIME video so were stunned when we saw this, our 2nd Wiggles video. Part of the enjoyment is the purity and "campy-ness" of the first video. We very much wish the Wiggles had NOT gotten a budget!

This video has FAR LESS DANCING by the Wiggles and their friends. The between-songs segments are confusing, DISTRACTING, way TOO INTENSE and GLITSY in COMPUTER-GRAPHICS, and are not thematically relevant. They really detract from the video. As parents, it hurt OUR eyes to see the brights, waving lines and zooming graphics in bright colors. Very, very, very unfortunate.

Just like rap music (which I actually like ok and own several CDs of various artists of) has been found to distrupt normal wave patterns in infants and toddlers, I cannot help but think (as a clinical psychologist), that the intensity, speed, and bold, in-your-face colors in the graphics on this video are similarly disruptive. Yes, we think it is THAT INTENSE; it made us turn away from the t.v.

Please buy and thoroughly enjoy the older Wiggles videos; they are wonderful. The graphics on this one, however, are far too much like the way-too-fast-paced video games of school-aged children. This is not good for the under 5 years old crowd, at the very least.

4.0 out of 5 stars Actually it is among their best, October 17, 2004

As with the better Wiggles videos, this one has lots of song and dance, and isn't dragged down by a tedious "plot". Some of their best songs are "performed" and kids play an important part.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as their other videos!, June 18, 2002

My 18 m/o daughter and I are big Wiggles fans. I have some of their CD's and VHS tapes. We love them, but this DVD was a big disappointment. The beauty of their older videos is their simplicity. This video is "higher tech" with distracting backgrounds and cartoons. It's as if someone with some computer background went crazy and tried out every computer gimmick they could think of. Also the choreographer is different, so the Wiggles DON'T DANCE as much or as well. My daughter does watch this video but gets bored more quickly. I strongly recommend the older tapes and remain a Wiggles fan, but don't buy this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worst of our Wiggles Videos, September 8, 2003
By A Customer
Our family loves the Wiggles, but this particular tape does not hold my 20-month-old son's attention and I can't bear to watch the whole thing. Instead of the simple blue backgrounds of many other tapes, there are distracting, flashy, backgrounds, and the songs are not as catchy as on the other tapes. Other moms of toddlers I know feel the same way about this video. I bought this one by accident when many people recommended The Wiggles' "Dance Party" and I thought that "Hoop De Doo, It's a Wiggly Party" was the same thing. Warning to others-- it's not! I recommend Yummy Yummy, Wiggle Time, Dance Party and Wiggly Safari.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, May 21, 2004
My son is going to be 2 and he is absolutely in love with this video. He watches it about 5 times a day and before he goes to bed he asks for "Uggles" and has to have a Wiggly Party. I got him Top of the Tots first and he was hooked until I bought him this one and gets upset if I try to put on the first one. He dances like an Emu and lifts his leg in Hoop Dee Doo and even takes Mom by the hands to dance with him. All of the balloons falling in the beginning make him crack up and he calls my husband and myself every time they fall. My husband and I get a little tired of putting on his other tapes over and over again but Wiggles we never get tired of. We find ourselves singing the songs all of the time even when its not on. Someone commented on there being too many kids on stage and taking away from the Wiggles characters themselves. I have to totally disagree. Kids need to be able to associate and they love seeing kids their age having fun too. I love also how the Wiggles include children from all races and have children with medical challenges. Showing children that everyone should be accepted regardless of how they look. It's just great!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a little disappointed with some of the comments left here. I think parents are forgetting that this whole "Wiggley" collection is for the children - not to keep the parents entertained. My son has been an avid Wiggles fan for almost a year now (he's almost 2) and the only Wiggle DVD that he did not seem too intrested in was the Dance Party one because it was a great deal older and he didnt relate to the skits or song set up. He loves to dance and sing along to the songs but he also enjoys the skits as do I because they do teach him things in a fun manner. These gentle men have been doing this for well over 10 years now and I see them producing for another 10! As long as my son enjoys it - it's money well spent! As for sitting through a whole 45 min. video - not going to happen for a child!! And Cpt Feathersword being a little abnoxious - that's what makes him the Captian! I highly recommend all of the Wiggles works!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the others, June 30, 2002
By
Daryl Johnson (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews
We have all of the Wiggles videos. My two year old is obsessed with them! This one is the only one that doesn't captivate him. His favorite part is learning the dances and dancing along, and he can't really do that with this one. There is much more random dancing instead of easy-to-follow choreographed movements. Watching any other of the Wiggles videos will get him up and dancing, but when this one is playing he tends to just lay on the floor and watch. I would suggest any of the videos except this one.
