He said they are very comfortable, warm in the winter, cool in the summer and retain their shape.
I purchased 2 pr and was so impressed that I then bought four more pair.
I upgraded to these from thin $1 Adidas cotton socks, and I keep buying more when they are all in the laundry.

I wore these on a 10-mile springtime hike, and even though it was a warm day and they were a very tight fit in my shoes (due to their thickness), my feet were not the least bit sore at the end of the day. This was a first for me, to not have a single blister or sore spot after a long hike. Wonderful socks.

On a very cold day, I wore these Wigwam socks in my Ariat Fatbaby boots for 13+ hours straight! The socks were incredibly A++ comfortable! And despite keeping my feet warm, they never felt sweaty or hot. The socks were perfect at the end of the day. My only con I could say is the top was a tiny bit thick as I have a high arch and I could feel it pressing slightly against the top of my boot. Excellent sock. The Columbia Falmouth light merino hikers I tried the next day bunched up in my boot on the bottom of my foot in front of my heel and were not as comfortable as the Wigwams.

These are the most comfortable hiking socks I've ever worn. They have just the right amount of cushion, but are not so thick that I can't get my feet in my boots. They have some extra support in the arch and calf to help keep them from sliding down my feet, but not so much that I feel like my foot is being compressed. The extra support works really well (even on socks I've had for 2 years).

When I first bought them I thought they would be too hot for summer use, but after wearing them I never hike without them. Even 100°+ heat my feet don't feel hot or sweaty (granted my feet don't sweat too much under any conditions).

These socks are also great for wearing in slippers in winter when I want to keep my toes warm.

I got the 9-11 size (shoe 6-10) and they fit my size 9 feet perfectly.

I would recommend these to anybody looking for a great hiking sock!

    Update (4 months later):
4 weekend backpack trips later I still love the socks. I don't wear a liner sock inside these and have never had a blister while wearing them. I think the key is the way the socks don't fall down and bunch up at my toes or at the heel.
The socks are holding up very well and show little signs of wear. The elastic is still strong and not stretched out. I love the socks so much that I bought my dad and my boy scout aged son a pair each. My son wears shoe size 4, so I got him the small size (sock size 7-9, shoe size 3-5). It was very tight when he first tried them on and I thought I'd have to return them, but they stretched and fit perfectly now (it took one time wearing them for the socks to fit right). My daughter wears women's size 6 shoes and she "borrows" my socks because they feel so nice. I still recommend these as the nicest wool hiking socks at the very best bargain price out there.

This sock is warm, comfortable, well-padded, and well-made. It feels smooth on your skin, unlike the usual wool. I love it!

When I purchased these socks, I questioned whether they were worth it. I tend to buy frugally for myself and this was a rare splurge. After two years, I can answer that question with a resounding YES!

They are well made, durable, warm, and comfortable wool socks. They do run a bit smaller than other socks. If you are on the higher end of the range I would recommend ordering a size up.

Even after two years of wear they are holding up remarkably well with minor fading and no noticeable stretching, holes, or seam issues. I recently shaved off some slight fuzz they got from rubbing on my boots, and they came out looking near new again. I do recommend these socks and will be purchasing more for myself.

I used these socks while hiking for hours in very warm weather. They were great! Combined w/ Merrell shoes, they are making a killer combination :)

These socks are not bad, but they are not nearly as great as the other reviews make them sound. I ordered the extra large size, which I thought would be a generous fit since my shoe size is 12-13. So I was surprised at how tight they are, and they also don't go up as far as I had expected. The material feels very nice, very soft, and not scratchy at all. But it's not as warm as other wool I have had (which, admittedly, was scratchier).

These socks are super warm. You can stand outside for two hours and not even feel the cold in your feet! They are very thick though. At first I thought they would not fit into my boots, but they fit, as thick as they are. They are definitely worth the money.
