This stripper is terrible. Nicks the wire most of the time. I use the Weidmuller 4th generation which is much nicer, and has a multi blade that conforms to the wire which works perfect and never nicks the wire. I am using this on stranded wire, but my Weidmuller does not give me an issue. I contacted the manufacture(or at least the branch in the USA) and they told me the stripper could be defective. I was told to ship the tool back and they would inspect for defects and replace as needed. I also think this problem could be arising out of the fact that the stripper is made in Europe. In Europe and many other countries, the system used for identifying wire size is metric and offset from our standard sizes in the USA(awg). Add this to the fact that the tool does not have much adjustment. In my opinion, this tool is not worth it because their are other tools just like it out there that are European quality that do not nick stranded wire. Check out Weidmuller.com for the strip tools and you will find the one I am talking about. You have to buy from a distributor, so search for one from their website.

It was either this or the Paladin tools one. I had used a Paladin Tools 1113 Stripax Pro 6 Stripper/Cutter before and it was awesome, but they are so expensive, so I decided to try out the less expensive Wiha. This is awesome, it is cheaper and it is more comfortable in the grip. It produces a loud clicking noise when using it, unlike the Stripax Pro, but it isn't annoying, and you can use to chase your dog around the house, at least that's what I do. I definitely recommend this product.

Have two, and use them professionally. Works well with small multi-conductor flat cable, as well as single conductors. It's especially appropriate for small wire gauges that are difficult to strip cleanly. There's an adjustment to set, and the setting changes based on how thick the insulation is. Expect to make a couple practice strips to get a good setting for the particular wire, not adjusting may nick the copper or leave insulation on.

This item was stated to strip down to 30 gauge or so, but rather crips the hell out of the wire and ripes off the area mention to be stripped. This was a failed device, larger wire I could see it to work nice and I love wiha but this just left me stripped of options when it cam time to strip wire I needed to use
