The Wiha 21oz 1.2" Polyurethane face lacquered handle Dead Blow Hammer from Wiha is easily the best Dead Blow I've ever bought and likely will be a Dead Blow that will last a life time. Not only are heads replaceable, but these heads will not loosen or unscrew while in use, but the heads are interchangeable but are made out of special type of plastic. I also like the fact this ENTIRE tool made in Germany and it's extremely well made.

Unlike other Dead Blows, this Wiha dead blow handle is made out solid tubular steel. The grip to this dead blow is actually much more comfortable than the picture on Amazon looks like. The feel of the grip reminds me of a Tempurpedic, but has the durability of a diamond tipped blade. What I like most about the handle is the fact it's non rebounding, anti-vibration as well. After several hard swings with this dead blow and or several minutes of using this dead blow, the anti-vibration feature really is worth every cent. Mind you, this is only 21oz, so it's not that it's that heavy or anything, but there are times when my writs/arms are more tired than other days.

From a safety standpoint, the non rebounding feature is not only a blessing in disguise, but it's a safety feature really comes in handy if for some reason your attention slipped away for a second. When using hand tools, I really like to put safety above everything else, so this was a plus for me.

I really like that the replaceable face's on this dead blow are also non-marring. Nothing is worse than having to clean up yet another mess after a long of work or when you are supper busy and just need to continue to work.

I bought this small dead blow hammer for use with chisels. It's been good for that purpose, reducing the tendency of small hammers to bounce after the blow. It isn't a replacement for a larger mallet, however. It requires some degree of accuracy because of the smaller face. The hammer is well-constructed, comfortable and light-weight. I highly recommend it for anyone needing a small dead blow.

I enjoyed this hammer, but it's also more than most need for the task. This is a high end tool and it is hefty in the hand; you won't be disappointed in its quality. However, if you don't need so much mass, consider the TEKTON 3180 Double-Face Soft Mallet instead. It's a steal and extremely durable.

Was much smaller than I expected for the price. It is a nice solid hammer but it not good for much more than tapping. I use it to setup CNC mills and its nice for getting vises and fixtures lined up, but I only need them to move in .0001" increments.

This little dead blow hammer allows for a great amount of finesse and doesn't wear you out. I've got several of the more bulky all-plastic types, and they stay on the workbench now.
