5.0 out of 5 stars It feels like real bowling, Unbelievable!
We got this in our local supermarket..... it looks like a real Bowling ball, with the glossy shine, (like it's on the video, not on the picture) In addition, the size is almost the same to a real bowling ball but it's not heavy at all. The only negative for me, my wife is a lefty and she can't play with it. (Maybe for someone selfish it will be a good thing)

Great idea needs some disign fixes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good concept... but not fully thought out, October 18, 2009

It appears that the marketing & research department at CTA concluded that only right handed people enjoy wii bowling because this accessory was clearly not designed for left handed people. For lefties, the B button needs to be used with either your ring finger or pinky which is highly uncomfortable and frustrating to use. If you're left handed, either learn how to bowl right handed or skip this product.

The ball splits in half, I can put in the remote with or without the Motion plus, I close it up and I just put in my hands thru the wrist strap and I'm ready for fun. I can access all the buttons on the ball so this is excellent I don't have to remove the remote from the ball to go thru the menu, it's well designed!

It also comes with inserts, I never use those, neither my kids. I don't know why they come included.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than just using your remote, November 10, 2009

I bought this to improve my game - I'm not very good & wanted it to help correct a terrible hook when I throw. It definitely feels more realistic than just using your remote. The remote fits inside although it says that it is compatable with the motionplus controller. But I haven't figured out how to get it to fit inside the ball yet? The controls to work all the functions are on the outside of the ball which is great but my hand gets tired after playing a few games because of the position of the B button and the finger holes seems a little awkward for my hand? Also the finger holes have different sized rubber inserts which can get sweaty & start to slip out when you play. So make sure you WEAR & SECURE the wrist strap. All in all I gave it 4 stars because #1) I love the more realistic feel of it #2) It has improved my game and #3) I don't have the terrible hook anymore.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for the cost, February 18, 2010

I purchased this for my senior aged father who used to be an avid bowler on many leagues over the years. I bought it for the entertainment value as his favorite game that came with the Wii system is the bowling game. I also purchased a more real life bowling game to go with it.

Pros: It's better than using the Wii remote as it simulates actual bowling.

Cons: It's a pain to take off the plastic sleeve on the Wii remote.

The ball is a lot lighter than an actual bowling ball, but this may not necessarily be a con.

Overall: It is worth the entertainment value for an avid bowler considering the price.

It's an okay product. My husband loves it, but I found it hard to use since the "B" button isn't that close to your finger, so it's hard to release it when bowling on the Wii. It does hold the remote++ sensor, so that's good. It's more novelty than practical - definitely fun for company and fool around with but that's about it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the best gift . . ., January 9, 2010

I got a Wii for Christmas, and was also given the bowling ball as a gift. I'm an avid bowler, and bowl on league, so I was incredibly excited. This product was hard for me to use, I have very small fingers, and if I put the inserts in, my husband can't use it (the inserts are very hard to put in and remove). We've played without the inserts, and I just can't get the feel for this ball. I think I would rather just stick with the regular controller, and use the money for a new game. Great gift idea, but not a great gift . . . we're going to try and take this back.

I was hoping that this would be comparable to the XAVIX game system bowling, but, with this, you still need to press the B button for the release, and that was difficult to do with your index finger. I had a lot of trouble getting speed on the ball.
The ball is really designed for right handers only.
I also felt that the finger holes were a little too close together.
Personally, I don't feel it was really worth the investment. Just too difficult to use and be accurate with.

This is a lot of fun. Very real, good thing for the strap on the wrist. You want to throw the ball.
