4.0 out of 5 stars Wii Buzz Shotgun
My Buzz shotgun came in the other day and the first thing I noticed was how well built it is. I didn't have any trouble installing the Wiimote and nunchuck into the gun. The directions were well written and easy to follow. The accuracy of the gun is a little off as the reticle on the screen is off a few inches to the right. Calibrations don't help it. It's a fun...

My wife and I thought this would be a fun addition to our other lightgun holders but wow! were we wrong! The one plus of this is that it's built like a tank, a heavy solid plastic tank. After that it pretty much dissapoints in every way. It's a pain to setup the nunchuck in the handle the way they have it configured. If you don't set up the cord just right the Z and C buttons won't work. It uses a plunger to push them. We've primarily tested it with Ghost Squad where you NEED the action button to work. So after fussing with the cord eventually got it all set. I'd hate to have to do this very often because it's a pain to do.
Ok next thing is the plastic barrel on the end of the shotgun seems to block the sensor on the Wiimote a bit so accuracy is way off and we are using a NYKO bar with fresh batteries. Ok so ditch the long barrel and now it's a sawed off with a stock. That's ok, but the Z button is way too close to the trigger. So it's tough to use, it should be up near the front of the gun. Maybe it's personal preference as my wife and I have logged a lot of time on the Arcade version. But it just seems way too close to use easily. Ok the vibration, it's very Buzzy and I suppose that's good but it's not in snyc with the Wiimote so it always buzzes even when you are out of ammo. So you might be shooting blanks thinking "What's Going on here?!"
Ok now my biggest gripe The trigger pull! I've owned enough real shotguns and this thing requires a LOT of strength to pull over and over again about twice what a real shotgun would be! My wife gave up after 10 mminutes using it as her hand was too tired to pull the trigger any more. It's very stiff and no way to lighten it up without taking it all apart which quite frankly I don't want to do.
This has no sighting point like the older model it just has a Vibration mode. If I could return it, I would. I will probably try and sell it locally as it's just too much of a pain to use. My score dropped quite a lot while using it as well. So I tried using it on wimpy level 1. No improvement. I died 4-5 times as much as I normally do and on Level 1!
So far the Nyko Perfect Shot with the Wiimote is the best thing going and my "Homemade Modified Bullpup Wii Zapper" still gives the best scores and you can shoot it all day.
I'm not sure why they couldn't tweak this but I can't find anyway to rate this above a 1. It's best features are it looks good and it's sturdy, but for playing games it's horrible!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that bad, January 4, 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Buzz Shotgun (Accessory)
Based on all the other reviews I was a little concerned about this purchase, but i figured it couldn't be that bad and I was right.

Pros:
1. Built solid, near full size, with a decent weight
2. As in real life, the extended stock allows for more accurate shooting by steading the barrel
3. Trigger pull has some resistence
4. Controllers fit snuggly in there appropriate sections. IR Controller can fit in gun without having to remove the wrist strap

Cons
1. The "buzz" feature activates before a full trigger pull occurs which is more annoying then realistic.
2. The Aiming reticle section causes a reflection with the IR Sensor
3. BIG, alot bigger then you may think. This is designed for big "kids", small kids will not get the benefit of the extended stock.
4. The A button can be a little difficult to reach, which makes using teh wii remote for accessing menu items and even reloading in popular kid friendly games like the new Nerf game ackward.

Just a few other notes:
While it was a little bit of pain to get the nunchuck in the back section, once I took a few moments to really look at the area where the nunchuck is supposed to be positioned I noticed a little grove along the left side of the inside of the gun (barrel facing away from you), where the nunchuck wire could go that made the whole process a little easier. With respect the barrel issue, the previous reviewers incorrectly identified it as reflection off the barrel. The barrel section is manufactured in 2 pieces that is held together with a screw (1= Barrel; 2=Aim Reticle and attachment section). When I tried to reinstall part 2 into the gun without the barrel, I still received a reflection. So just for kicks, I removed part 2 and just insterted the Barrel in the lower attachment hole (it fit surprisingly well). When I tried using the gun again it worked just as if the barrel wasn't there. So it looks like it is the aiming reticle section that inserts in the upper attachement where the wii's ir sender is pointing out of the gun. So if you want to have the look of the barrel, you can attach it and just removed part 2. PLEASE NOTE, I have the IR Sensor on the top of the TV, I have not tried it below the TV with the Barrel. As for aiming...I cut off the circular recticle and super glued it to the top from.

With regard to the trigger, yes it is a little tough, but I found it is ok for most short game play (2-3 hours).

Over all not a bad unit. It isn't the best gun attachment I have used nor is it the worst. If you like hunting games or accuracy shooting games this is definitely something to think about. If you are just looking for arcade style shooting, go for the pistol style guns.

Have fun

I bought this gun for my husband for his wii hunting games and the gun is just ok. If you use the long barrel for some reason the reflection for the lazer from the remote though the gun does not make it to the sensor bar so he has to take off the long barrel to play any of the games. If you have more than 10 feet from your TV the remote lazer gets faint before it reaches the sensor bar. If I was able to test the gun out before buying I might of not bought it, It is not all I thought it would be.

It's a fun accessory and the vibration feeback is a good addition. Mine didn't come with the laser in the barrel nut as stated in the manual.

With the barrel attached the bar detects the remote reflections off the shiney white barrel of the shot gun. Remove the barrel and the gun works great if you dont mind shooting where you are not aiming!

Trigger pull is to long but the guns construction is great. Makes things a lot more fun but you really have to get used to it.

Purchased this to replace a broken shotgun for the Wii Big Buck Hunter Pro. Sadly, when put together, there is no shotgun action. No pump at all actually. I installed the nunchuck and it kept slipping out. Our family owns several Wii hunting games, I would not or could not use this controller with any of them. Not a shotgun at all but some sort of assault rifle with a scope. We have Cabella's Big Game Hunter and I would not purchase this rifle as an add on for that either.

I got this for my hubby for Christmas and it was a blast until he was using it and the trigger just broke off - not worth anything with a broken trigger and it only lasted a month with light playing, very dissappointing.
