Lower quality than the Hottest Party dance mat,

I bought this mat after buying Hottest Party DDR so that we would have a second mat for two-player fun. The mat quality is noticeably lower than the mat that ships with Hottest Party - it slips on a smooth surface such as hard wood flooring and the top tends to crinkle.
I made an alteration to the mat which reduced the slipping. I cut squares out of a yoga mat to fit the arrow squares and taped them to the underside of the mat. This not only helped with the skidding but also provided a tactile sensation so that it was easier to tell when your feet had gotten out of position. The squares register moves effectively and overall it was a good purchase, especially after alteration. happy dancing!

Good enough for occasional use only,
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

First of all, let me just say that playing DDR with more than 1 mat makes it even a more fun game than it already is playing individually. You can play in friendship mode which takes the best combined score and is helpful for going through the challenges in circuit grove mode, but you can also play against each other similar to the venue master challenges.
Now, regarding this product: in terms of sensitivity it is as good as the original one. It definitely has a different look and feel, the materials are different, but that may not be a problem except if used in slippery surfaces. The BIG problem with this mat is that even after a few songs the ends of the mat fold towards the center like a taco and it becomes very annoying as you have to unfold it almost after every song, even if used properly. The bottom line is that this mat may be good enough for ocassional use, but if you're a serious DDR player you should definitely consider the original Konami pad.

Not good quality,

There are much better, higher quality mats out there. This mat slips very easily, and does not register steps as well as other mats. I do not recommend it at all.
