4.0 out of 5 stars Lower quality than the Hottest Party dance mat
I bought this mat after buying Hottest Party DDR so that we would have a second mat for two-player fun. The mat quality is noticeably lower than the mat that ships with Hottest Party - it slips on a smooth surface such as hard wood flooring and the top tends to crinkle.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good enough for occasional use only
First of all, let me just say that playing DDR with more than 1 mat makes it even a more fun game than it already is playing individually. You can play in friendship mode which takes the best combined score and is helpful for going through the challenges in circuit grove mode, but you can also play against each other similar to the venue master challenges...

I bought this mat after buying Hottest Party DDR so that we would have a second mat for two-player fun. The mat quality is noticeably lower than the mat that ships with Hottest Party - it slips on a smooth surface such as hard wood flooring and the top tends to crinkle.

I made an alteration to the mat which reduced the slipping. I cut squares out of a yoga mat to fit the arrow squares and taped them to the underside of the mat. This not only helped with the skidding but also provided a tactile sensation so that it was easier to tell when your feet had gotten out of position.

The squares register moves effectively and overall it was a good purchase, especially after alteration.

happy dancing!

Now, regarding this product: in terms of sensitivity it is as good as the original one. It definitely has a different look and feel, the materials are different, but that may not be a problem except if used in slippery surfaces. The BIG problem with this mat is that even after a few songs the ends of the mat fold towards the center like a taco and it becomes very annoying as you have to unfold it almost after every song, even if used properly.

The bottom line is that this mat may be good enough for ocassional use, but if you're a serious DDR player you should definitely consider the original Konami pad.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not good quality, April 3, 2008

There are much better, higher quality mats out there. This mat slips very easily, and does not register steps as well as other mats. I do not recommend it at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars IT STINKS BIG TIME !, May 20, 2008

Did you ever receive (e.g. in a goodybag for kids) one of cheapest Chinese all-plastic toys and noticed it's characteristic smell of lowest quality plastic? Now imagine a square yard of same quality plastic! I almost fainted the first time I just opened the box. And I'm the one in family that is most tolerable to the smell. I had to keep it in garage for 3 days before I could even try it. And after I tried it (for 10 minutes), my whole room was stinking for hours after (with all windows open). And, the best thing was, it did not even work.
I had the original mat that came with the game, and after this experience I bought another one from direct from Konami (a little more expensive). Don't take me wrong, for both of those if you put your nose right next to it and smell it, you can faintly smell the similar plastic smell. But the one we are talking about here, you could smell it from 100 yards away.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wii dance mats, April 12, 2009

These mats are junk. 2 of three did not work, third worked for 10 minutes. Only positive was Amazon's prompt and courteous customer service for the refund and return. One star is given because that is minimum, otherwise I would have chosen 0.

I can't find a pad that works with the Wii at any retail outlets, so I ordered it here. It took about 2-3 months to get it shipped to me (Amazon even wrote to ask if I still wanted to wait for this product to get to them so they could ship it to me).

I unpacked the pad 3 days ago. Still have not danced on it. WHY? Because of the plastic chemical smell. I am leaving it outside on sunny days to burn off the smell that I find a little annoying and my husband really can't stand, it makes him a bit ill. (I got the pad for him as with the game you can only play with others if you have 2 or more pads). Think I am picky and overplaying the smell? I opened it in the living room. Our roommate who's bedroom is all the way down the hall, a good 75 feet away came out after about 20 minutes to find out what the smell was that was wafting into his room.

The smell is less and I figure it will bake out soon. But I would hate to be in the factory or the warehouse that makes these pads. Plus, if they make it so hard to get the pad, no wonder the game is not selling so well any more. But as it is the only one I could find I am gonna give it a full week to air out, then try it out. If it works I am keeping it.

I bought this for my daughter's birthday party along with DDR Hottest party 2. The mat that came with the game worked flawlessly. This mat just did not work with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just buy it for gamecube!, September 14, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Dancing Mat (Electronics)
The only difference between this dance pad and the less expensive version made for gamecube is that this one just says "Wii" on it, it's not wireless or more advanced in any way! I would say, save yourself some money and just buy a used gamecube pad instead!!

It works fine, but it is not as sturdy as the mat that comes with the DDR game.

I just got this dance mat in the mail today and immediately took it out to play Dance Revolution with my son. Boy was he upset that he couldn't play because the mat did not function at all. This is my first return to Amazon after buying many products through them.
