1.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful product until it stops working. November 12, 2010
Edition:2x
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this thing back in June because my 2 roommates and I had been burning through batteries like nobody's business. It was kind of confusing at first because the package said it was supposed to flash red at low power, flash red at a slower pace when at medium charge, then be solid green when it was fully charged. It just flashed continuously red all the time but it charged fine, so that was ok.
Just recently however, one of the battery packs stopped charging. The wiimote would sit on the pad and flash continuously as it normally does, then we'd try and use it and it would have absolutely no power whatsoever. Pushing a button on the wiimote didn't even cause one of the four lights on the bottom to flash at all. Wrote it off as a lost cause, but now my other battery pack doesn't charge either. Got a good few months out of it but for the price I'd much rather get at least a couple of years.
Reading the other reviews it seems like some of the panels work great and others only work for a few months and then sputter out. Sounds like a manufacturing defect to me. For this reason, I can't recommend this product. It was a great idea, really cool, looks sexy and is a great conversation piece (the phrase "inductive charging" tends to elicit lots of "oohs" and "ahhs") but now it's just a broken piece of equipment I spent 30 bucks on.... and now we're back to letting our wiimotes munch on Duracells.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works like it should.(Even with black wii remotes) January 1, 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I just picked up this charger last night and I will update this review later but I did want to mention one thing. I have found out through reading reviews that several other induction chargers will not charge the black wii remotes with the black silicone sleeve on. Supposedly because it is to thick. THIS CHARGE DOES CHARGE THE BLACK WII REMOTES WITH THE BLACK SILICON COVERS ON!!! I set the controllers to charge overnight so I am not sure if the black and white controllers charge just as fast or what but I will update this review after a while of use. I just wanted people out there with black wii remotes to know that this will work for them. The only catch is the battery cover is white but that doesn't matter if you put your black sleeve back on. Other than that the charger seems great. It glows red when its charging and green when its done. Simple.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simpe to use, I love it! December 12, 2009
Edition:2x
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've tried other rechargeable battery inserts to no avail. This one is great! It's easy to use and I've never had the batteries run out during game play yet. Also, unlike other flat panel induction chargers, there are no weird clips or attachments to put onto the remote while it's charging - you just drop the controller off and walk away.
It's perfect. Well worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Found Replacement Batteries!!!!! June 26, 2012
Edition:2x|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This is a good item but, it was difficult to find replacement batteries. I went to Energizer.com and called the 800 number. I was transferred at least 4 times but the reps were very helpful and once I reached the right dept I was very pleased. The rep took my information and they are sending me replacement batteries free of charge. If you need replacement batteries call: 1-800-331-3844 Website:[...] hope this helps someone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke twice and uses AAA batteries with less juice September 19, 2010
Edition:2x|Amazon Verified Purchase
Dont even bother purchasing. Right out of the box, one of the batteries failed, giving a blinking red battery light. I returned the item and received another one which stopped working after 1 charge on each battery. Both batteries give the blinking red light now.

Since i was unable to recharge the energizer batteries anymore, i recently purchased a pack of Sanyo Eneloop batteries. I noticed they were lasting a lot longer than the one charge i had on the enrgizer batteries. So out of curiousity,i took apart the Energizer battery cases apart and found they were using AAA batteries (not AA) with 600mAh of juice. The Eneloop AA batteries which i used with my Wii controllers were 2000mAh. Even their AAA batteries had more juice at 800mAh. You might as well get a set of normal batteries. Not only will they last longer but they will work!

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't last long! Not recommended by Nintendo!! August 25, 2010
Edition:2x|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This is a convenient way to charge Wii remotes especially if you have the motion plus accessory. You dont have to remove batteries and you can charge the remotes with wii motion plus and the sleeves on. Sounds great! but this product does not seem to be of high quality. Perhaps the high market demand caused quality control to drop!

The battery packs worked for a day and then my wii remotes went crazy. When the induction battery packs are in, the wii remotes would 'blink' constantly (when the console is off) and lose the charge. When I switch the console on, I need to sync the remotes every time. Secondly, the charging pad indicator light stopped working. Even after charging, it wont turn green and stay red.

I called both Nintendo and Energizer (PDP) about this problem. Nintendo said they do not recommend these chargers since they are known to cause issues like this and use of such chargers would void warranty. The PDP drep idn't even ask a question and said mail the unit back to us (No RMA or anything). We will repair and mail it back to you. I am choosing to return this to Amazon and wait until the issues with this charger are resolved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool idea done perfectly January 13, 2010
Edition:2x
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a great product. It includes 2 sets of rechargeable batteries and I've seen them sold separately at my local electronics superstore. I have no issues lining up the remote to make it charge. If you look at the panel closely, you can see an outline of how to position the remote, or you could just look at the pictures on the box. Just plug in the block charger, connect to the panel and you're set. The power cord is about 4 feet long. Another cool feature is a sync button extender on the battery cover so you don't need to remove it to sync the wiimote to your wii. The button is recessed so there is little possibility of accidentally hitting it. Like someone else said, a set of AA batteries lasts longer. I believe it's quite a bit longer but I'm willing to sacrifice some battery life for convenience. You can always put in a set of regular batteries if you're caught between charges. The rechargeable battery and cover are 1-piece so keep the standard cover around. NOTE: You cannot charge the batteries outside of the wiimote on this panel. I tried and the red charge light ends up blinking indicating a problem. Makes sense to me but it was wishful thinking. At any rate, I highly recommend this product.

This Wii Energizer Flat Panel 2x Induction Charger works well as long as my controllers are out of their sleeves. For that reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

For anyone who wants to purchase a battery pack for PL-7581
If anyone else is having this problem, you can open the battery pack up with a small phillips screwdriver, remove the batteries and replace them with NiMH AAA batteries from any store and recycle the ones that come with it. Much less waste and you don't need to wait for shipping. I replaced the... Read more

My solution to the "flashing red light" problem.
Discovered problem....second screw is hidden under warning sticker. Snapped the screw trying to undo the piece. This solution should still work if you aren't a pinhead and try to force it open (like me).

What color are the battery packs?
They're white. Which sucks if you have black remotes (like i do) but it actually doesn't matter. Once you put the jacket on the remote you can't tell and even when you're using accessories like the Wii Zapper or steering wheel etc you can't see the bottom so you won't be able tell. But when... Read more
