A Great Charger for Wii-mote Controllers,
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Energizer Power & Play Charging Station (Accessory)
I am giving this product 5 stars, as it works perfectly for the way that I use the Wii controllers.
Basically, it is a stand charger that allows you to place two Wii controllers on it to charge without taking out your recharable batteries and placing them into a separate charger. The device is designed in the same fashion as the Wii, allowing it to blend right in next to it. There are minor issues with this device that do not affect my review, but may make you think twice before buying it. First of all, in order to charge the controllers, you need to replace the battery cover on the back of the remote with the included ones that have an access hole to allow the provided rechargable battery packs to make contact with the charger. This means that you can not keep your Wii Controller cover sleeve in place during the charge. Another minor thing, is that when you place the controller on the stand, the wrist strap attach string partially gets in the way. There is a small channel provided at the bottom to allow the attachment string to be moved out of the way, but you have to be deliberate to make sure it stays that way. Lastly, if you keep this charger in the room where you like to sleep, be aware that the two thin line charging lights on the front produce a noticeable amount of light (Orange or Green) that may keep you awake. The batteries charge very quickly and easily provided a full day of game play. This is why those issues above are so minor, as it all depends on how you use your Wii.

Bought this along with my Wii at Walmart. I really like having the batteries charged and "eveready" to go. (It's Energizer branded, but NOT made by Eveready BTW.) No hunting for batteries and environ friendly.
A few items of note. First, you have to make sure you're putting them in the correct pos/neg orientation. It's easy to get it backwards because the battery pack looks like it should go in one way, but it doesn't. Second, after put in initially, one of them wouldn't charge. So I switched the battery packs and they were fine. And third, when you charge them you have to run the wiimote wrist cord out the side of the charger cradle (there's a little groove for it) and not out the back or it won't contact the charger properly. It lights up when it's charging (orange, and green when charged) so you can see right away whether it's right or wrong. A minor inconvenience is that you have to remove the soft wiimote jacket before putting them in to charge. (My daughter says it's a major hassle, but... y'know... kids...) If playing Mario Kart with the Wii wheel frequently, not an issue. Overall I'd recommend this if you use your Wii daily like we do. *UPDATE* More than a month later of daily use and these rechargeables are still going strong. They recharge in seemingly minutes and hold their charge all day. I've played Tiger Woods golf for several hours during the day and I don't think I've seen the battery indicator lights go down even one level. And we've bought NO batteries in all this time! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this unit to a Wii owner. We rarely use the Wiimote jackets now so the minor inconvenience cited above doesn't really apply to us now.

Worked great... at first,

I bought this at Wal-Mart over the summer. For quite some time, it worked perfectly. Then yesterday morning, I went out to buy New Super Mario Bros. Wii and when we started playing it, my brother's controller would suddenly not respond, and when he'd look at it, the blue lights would be flashing, like they do when you first turn them on. This was only happening every 10-20 minutes at first, but then it started happening more and more frequently until it would just flash and do nothing else. We switched to AA batteries and there were no problems at all. We thought maybe it was because the battery pack wasn't charged, so we put it back in the Wii remote and put it on the charger and turned off the Wii. Later when my son went to play, he originally picked up the non-working remote and I told him to use the other one. When he set it back on the charger, the light went from green to orange and stayed quite awhile even though the battery had just finished charging. My son went to play, but then the other Wii remote started doing what the other one was, so now we have to go out and buy lots of AA batteries.
I really liked the idea of this charger. It looks great next to the console and I was saving quite a bit on batteries for the 5 months or so that I used it, but I don't think I'll be buying another one. I'm thinking maybe I'll just get some rechargeable AA batteries. But I'm definitely going with Duracell and not Energizer.

If you are going to be spending much time with your Wii, the Energizer Charging Station is a great way to avoid the costs of batteries.
The system is ready to go, directly out of the box. It comes with two sets of rechargable batteries and special battery covers for your Wii remotes. To charge, you simply plug the docking station into a wall outlet, and cradle the Wii remotes into their docks. When charging, the system displays two large bands of orange light, letting you know that your controls are properly cradled and charging. When they've completed the charging process, the light becomes a large band of green. This system charged the remotes quickly, and takes up minimal space. You can dock your remotes at night, and be ready for a full day of play in the morning. You can charge two controllers at once, and never be left in the situation of fishing through drawers and cabinets for spare batteries, in the middle of gameplay again!

Found this [...] and I love it. It works perfectly. We never use the silly rubber "jackets" on the wiimotes anyway so no problems removing those before charging. I love the fact that the wiimote retains a very similar battery cover on the back making the wiimote feel exactly like it did before.
In response to the people recommneding the Nyko charger, I do not trust anything made by Nyko after their disaster with the Xbox 360 "intercoolers" ruining consoles and I would never buy their products. I do trust Energizer though and these work great.

This item keeps our Wii remotes charged and ready for play. Owned for well over a year now and they are still working perfectly.

The battery packs don't fit well enough so when you squeeze your controller to tightly or swing it too hard, the controller turns off and must resync, leaving you unable to move for 5 seconds. Do yourself a favor and follow the one person's advice and get rechargeable AA batteries instead. This thing is going in the trash if I can't figure out something to stick in there to get the pack to not shift around.

Works great with our Wii!,

We picked this up because we were tired of changing batteries or taking them out to charge them every couple of weeks on the Wii remotes.
It's worked great. We keep our remotes stored in the charging station when we're not using them, and we've never needed to add batteries since then. It's very easy to tell whether the remote is fully charged. While charging the base light turns yellow; and when fully charged it turns green. You do have to take off the rubber pad while charging, which hasn't been a problem for us. We're happy with this, and comparing this price with what we used to spend on batteries suggests it is a real bargain and a great convenience.

We purchased this with our wii and love it. We also have rechargeable batteries for our digital camera that we will use in the wii but it is quick and easy to just put the whole remote on the charge station when it needs it instead of pulling out batteries and making sure the new set are charged. It took overnight to charge the first time but since then we have only had to recharge one remote after using it every night for at least an hour for about two weeks. I only wish I could buy extra batteries and backs for the remotes for the other two wii remotes. Good product.
