4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, but doesn't work with all Wii fishing games
Be forewarned that this product does not work well for the "Fishing World Tour" game. For that game, you need to be able to move the remote and the nunchuck independently, not as a unit. Also any game that requires you to point and select during gameplay will not work with this, because when fully assembled, the transmitter on the remote is blocked. That being said, the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Wii fishing Rod
You dont have to have this item to play the FIshing games on the Wii but it makes it more realistic with casting and reeling in the "big catch".

5.0 out of 5 stars Great rod!, February 18, 2010

I got this rod to go with the fishing game I just bought for the wii. I was so worried because of the other reviews posted that it was going to break in 10 minutes of use. They were wrong. This rod is made of sturdy plastic and the reel on the side is attached very well to the rod. There is no way it can break unless you aren't efficient at using plastic. Most of the reviews said that a child was using it. I am 20 and my family are all over the age of 18. It is incredibly easy to use. The only complaint I would have about the product is it is left handed and not right handed. Though it is still very easy to use with your left. To be able to break this product you would have to be reeling incorrectly which I found very easy to do if you tried to reel too fast. Which is too fast for even the game to catch. This is done by moving the reel back and forth instead of moving the reel naturally around in a circle. If the rod broke then they really had to be doing something wrong because you wouldn't even touch that part in the game. I ope this review is helpful because I believe this rod was highly underestimated.

like the fishing games alot but the pole broke after one use, but just a little note i also bought another brand of the wii fishing pole somewhere else and it also broke after one use, nice idea but built real cheaply, maybe a better pole will come out later, it had nothing to do with the carrier of the product

1.0 out of 5 stars Fishing Rod fell apart, March 12, 2010

I bought this fishing rod from some company and after the first use the reel part came off and the second use the whole fishing rod fell apart. I didn't even send it back because I would have lost my shipping money and it would have cost me to ship it so I would have spent more money so I threw it away after only two uses. Would not recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality, Cheaply Made, January 8, 2012

Really, really cheaply made. After reading reviews for this, I warned my boys that the Wii reel was considered flimsy by others, to play with the reels carefully, to not reel in with too much strength. One day -- broken -- and I can guarantee they played with them gently. Save your money, don't buy this. I've returned ours.

Item doesn't have smooth motion. It makes the game better in a sense, but this product could be way better designed for quality and accuracy of a rod and reel.

Wanted to get a rod package to make the wii experience a little more realistic. After reading reviews it seemed as if this ws either a hit or a miss. Anyways the wife got excited on a big catch and broke it in half and irreparable. Makes you think that this product never went thru any test playing of any kind.

There was no reel included (even though shown on box), and the rod broke on the first use. Don't waste your money.
