5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Buy
The Frontman for the Wii is an excellent choice if you want a cheaper, good second guitar for your Guitar Hero. It comes already put together. I could not see that the neck detaches (I was too busy playing instead of looking at the neck). Apparently, there are two different color choices. 3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK, but not as good as the Activision Les Paul
As a huge fan of Guitar Hero 3, I bought the Nyko Frontman with eager anticipation that this guitar would be an equivalent, second controller for the GH3 game. Unfortunately, after using the Frontman controller, I greatly prefer the original Activision Les Paul controller that came with GH3.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Buy, March 27, 2008

This review is from: Wii Frontman Wireless Guitar - White (Accessory)
The Frontman for the Wii is an excellent choice if you want a cheaper, good second guitar for your Guitar Hero. It comes already put together. I could not see that the neck detaches (I was too busy playing instead of looking at the neck). Apparently, there are two different color choices. I received the yellow guitar with white and black pick guards. The other option is a white guitar with black and purple pick guards. There is currently no option for color choice on Amazon - what you get is what you get.
The guitar is comparable to the original, the Frontman is slightly bigger and slightly heavier. The buttons and strum bar are tight and I feel like it is better quality than the original. The strap feels like it is a bit shorter, but not a big problem. In all, I think I like it better than the original! I would suggest getting it as the second guitar for the co-op mode.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent GH3 Guitar, April 14, 2008

Just bought the FrontMan Wireless Guitar for the Wii and love it! In my opinion it's just as good as (if not a tad better than) the original one that came with the game. I like the fact the buttons feel a bit tighter and the fret bar seems to be a tad quieter. I purchased mine in a local game store and it was still $10.00 less than the original and well worth it to me!

First the good things: the Frontman controller does seem to be well constructed. The buttons all seem to be of high quality, and the design looks pretty cool. The whammy bar is also much more solid than on the GH3 Les Paul controller.

The main problem with this controller, however, is that the fret buttons are quite stiff. There is definite resistance in pushing these buttons down, and this resistance makes it fairly tough to play difficult solos in Expert mode. The fret buttons are also rounded and recessed, which again make them difficult to press quickly (the roundness also makes them difficult to hold for long periods of time). I became quite frustrated using the Nyko controller with tough GH3 songs.

One last downside - the Nyko controller, just like the GH3 Les Paul, is not compatible with Wii Rock Band. It's amazing how many accessory guitar controllers we have to buy just to have guitar and bass on both GH and Rock Band. Sigh...

In conclusion - the price difference between the Nyko controller and the Activision Les Paul ($10 currently) is not enough, in my opinion, to justify the stiff controls of the Nyko controller.

The frontman is made really sturdy. While it does not have a detachable neck. It's button's I like alot better then the Guitar Hero 3 Guitar. I owned both guitars at one time but kept the Nyko brand because I liked the feel and look better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wii FrontMan Controller, May 5, 2008

This controller works great. The only complaint is the location of the silver buttons under the whammy bar. I find that I frequently bump these buttons, causing the game to pause.

This guitar works just as well as the expensive ones that you can buy. I actually prefer to use this one. Don't be afraid to buy this one.

great addition to the wii guitar hero. it works great. it's yellow, which distiguishes it from the other guitar. i like it. My girlfriend prefers the original.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Alternative, August 27, 2008

It's not of the same quality as the official GH3 Les Paul, but it's close enough to make it a good deal. It takes a little more effort to press the buttons than on the official guitar. Everything else works just fine.

One thing to note: Even though I ordered the "white" version, I received a "yellow" guitar. I didn't care, but you might.

3.0 out of 5 stars I would get the Les Paul, April 14, 2008

My guitar works fine, but I have to complain about the buttons. Not very responsive and they seem to stick a little. I would recommend spending the extra $10 and buying the Les Paul.

1.0 out of 5 stars If you value your fingers, don't buy this guitar, April 13, 2009

I, like many of you, purchased this guitar because the reviews looked decent and the price couldn't be beat. After about 5 minutes of playing, I packaged it back up and I'm sending it back. The buttons on the neck are so stiff, your hand will hurt after 1 song. Also, the + and - buttons are in a different place than on the original guitar, making it more difficult to hit blindly while playing.

Other than that, it's a nice guitar and seems to be pretty well made. The strum bar is a bit stiffer too, but I didn't mind that so much. If the stiff buttons or the placement of the + and - buttons doesn't bother you, then it's probably worth the money. But if you're like me and you're interested in playing the hard and expert levels, you'll never get there with this guitar. You simply can't move quickly enough in complex passages.
