First of all if you are looking at a Wii Mini and researching it you will have found all of the negatives. There is no internet connection, you can not play game cube games, and it only uses composite cables and not component. Because of this alot of people rip on this system as a worthless money grab by Nintendo. Now there is an argument for that especially since alot of people collect Nintendo products just for the sake of collecting them. However for someone like me this is a great system.

I have not owned a Nintendo console since the original NES. Lately although I love my PS3, PS4, and 360 I am getting tired of "killing pixels." I have been longing for the old days of good clean fun with Mario and Kirby. After the holidays I was gonna buy a Wii anyway, but then they stopped producing it and made this and I couldn't be happier. I have two tvs. My main high end TV has my other systems, which I don't have room for more or I would have gotten a Wii U, and my secondary for VHS and my Wii Mini. I also have a wi-fi bluray player hooked up to it if I want netflix. That being said I have played a few games with it now and it functions great. I have played it almost as much as my PS4 and I've owned it for a shorter time.

Bottom line is if you want a nostalgic feeling system just to play the main wii games you will love this system. At 99.99 at Best Buy you can't go wrong. IF you want this as well as the newest hardware Nintendo offers and internet options then saving for a Wii U might be a better idea or finding a used Wii.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! January 21, 2014

I bought this for my son's 4th birthday. My boys already have an Xbox 360, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on another game console. This Wii mini was a great price! It's over a $100 cheaper than the original Wii. The only difference is that the mini doesn't connect to the internet, and it cannot play game cube games. My son is only four, so he wasn't concerned that he can't connect to the internet. I'm very happy I bought this. My son has been having so much fun with it.

This is a nice super compact little system that i plug into my tv and presto instant gmaing time fun. I bought mine at best buy for 100 with mario kart and a red wii motion plus remote bundled together. It's worth the price with the game, seriously look it up the game is not cheap. The color scheme is nice and if you just want to play games it's a nice little system to have. Also I love the red remote, it's a hard one to find that only comes with the systems. The only downside is no internet or gamecube games, but you can still play with friends and it's good for little ones

5.0 out of 5 stars Works for what we use it for April 9, 2014

Cheap alternative to the regular Wii. I am fine with it because we don't use the internet function anyway. The disadvantage would be that it doesn't have internet but whatev.

Worth the MSRP price.

Picked up the Wii Mini so I could take a break from most of the titles I traditionally play (Halo,Call Of Duty, etc.) on my Xbox 360 til the newer consoles get better games out and have not been disappointed by the Wii Mini. Tons of Value (Mario Kart, Wiimote, nunchuck, wiimote case all retail for about $80 together so really you only pay $20 for the console when you look at it that way), fits nicely in an entertainment system stand, quiet console, but most importantly you can play tons of fun games for a mere $25 a pop. Most of the titles worth picking up on the Wii are fantastic multiplayer games anyway.

Concerns: No internet access. I understand where this can be a turn off for a lot of customers but if you already have other means to stream your Netflix, etc.. then its really not too much of a factor. Also Nintendo cut support for the Wii's online multiplayer matches anyway so really its a feature I think they intended to move away from in favor of pushing consumers to the Wii U for that. I also think no internet access is a great parental control feature for any moms or dads out there concerned with their child playing games online.

all in all great value, fun system, would pick up a 2nd if I could find a reason too.

5.0 out of 5 stars No regrets July 21, 2014

I purchased this Wii for my 4 year old son .At first I considered buying an Xbox but I felt this console was more age appropriate. Well my son loves it and that is all that is important. I don't know why the Wii Mini gets bad reviews ...My son can't navigate online gaming so that feature isn't important for me. The games offered are diverse and affordable and its easy to operate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nintendo System for the Old School Gamer! March 14, 2014
I am very much an old school gamer. I am not an online gamer. The internet, as far as game playing, is absolutely useless to me. I have played Playstation 3 games online, such as Tekken 6, and the lag time is horrible. Also, I usually just want to enjoy my game and do not really care to have my game play interrupted by folks online. This system does not go online. It has gotten some internet flack for that, but my attitude toward that simply is: who cares? The main reason to get a Nintendo system is really for the Nintendo games. Games such as New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby 20th Anniversary Collection, Mario Kart Wii, and Super Mario Galaxy are among some of the best titles on this system, none of which even require online gaming. I own a Playstation 3 for third party titles, but Nintendo systems historically are best for Nintendo made titles.

This system does not play Gamecube games. My reaction to that, once again, is: who cares? The Gamecube was absolutely the worst system in Nindendo's history. To date there is absolutely nothing released on the Gamecube that I care about. The best title on it was Mario Kart, and Mario Kart Wii is awesome, so I do not need this to play Gamecube titles.

Now that I have nullified the complaints about the lack of online capabilities and the no backward capability to the worst system in Nintendo's history, we can now go over what truly matters. Why would you want to buy this console? The answer is very simple. It is affordable. It is a Wii. The Nintendo Wii has a library of so many games on the market. Nintendo, as a company, really made a come back with this system with games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and the 20th Anniversary Kirby set.
