5.0 out of 5 stars very comfortable, even with a bad hand!
I didn't think I'd be able to play the driving games on the Wii because I have a badly arthritic hand with nerve damage. This nice plump steering wheel, with the awesome Nerf padding, really allows me to play with the rest of the family. I don't have to grip it tightly like the thinner wheels, and it gives enough that it doesn't put pressure on my hands at all...

2.0 out of 5 stars Failure To Communicate
After only a few minutes, we knew we had to return this item. For racing purposes, the wheel is just fine. However, as you know, you still have to access menus and make selections before and after the race. Because of a design flaw in the wheel, the Wii remote has difficulty communicating with the sensor bar while it's inserted into the wheel. The on screen pointer...

I don't have to grip it tightly like the thinner wheels, and it gives enough that it doesn't put pressure on my hands at all.

I should also mention that the kids like the Nerf wheels better, too. I see from some of the other reviews that others have had problems, but that hasn't been our experience at all. The price is so cheap, too, that I'd recommend giving them a try, particularly if you have any issues with your hands and still want to play a little.

Oh, and another tip, if you have hand problems at all, is to put pillows under your elbows for support. It helps a lot! Hope this helps someone. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall a good product, March 31, 2010

I'll make this short and sweet. Like Mrs. Poppins, it's practically perfect in every way so I'll just tell you how it isn't because that would be faster.

-Unlike the Nintendo version, this one blocks off some of the pointer's mobility (I have the sensor at the bottom and this might affect it, I don't know). This isn't a big problem because you can use the D-pad on the Wiimote for anything you might want to point at
-It smells awful! My wife won't use it because it smells so bad. One would think they could have washed it or something.
-The B button is a little bit trickier to hit than on Nintendo's wheel.

I would recommend it to players as a good alternative to the cold hard plastic that Nintendo offers. My wife hates it and would not.

The on screen pointer will be visible on the bottom half of the screen but as you try to move it to the top half, it disappears, preventing you from selecting anything on that part of the screen. It was very evident, very quickly that this wheel would not work. We did not want to have to take the Wii remote out of the wheel every time we needed to make a selection on screen. I replaced the Nerf wheel with the Nintendo Wii wheel and have had no issues. Usually, I like the Nerf stuff. Here, they've designed a wheel for form over function.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you're playing Mario Kart Wii, you need the Nerf., March 31, 2010

Well, need might be a bit of an exaggeration, but what can't be exaggerated is how extremely comfortable this wheel is to hold and use. It is easier to grip, especially if you have larger hands, though my wife has smaller hands and she enjoys it as well. The construction is sturdy. I like the button on the back that hits the B button on the Wiimote better than the official Wii Wheel, since it's easier to push and a bit larger so it's easier to hold in. For anyone who grew up in the late 70s or early 80s and had a Nerf football or other toy, this is a must-have.

I'll admit I was hesitant to buy another accessory after putting out money for the Wii console, the game itself, which unfortunately comes in a combo pack with the official Wii wheel, along with every other thing I've bought for the Wii, but I can honestly say that I'm very happy I made this purchase. It's nicer to have a squishy Nerf material you can hold onto and play with. At the time I'm writing this, both the official Wii Wheel and the Nerf Wheel are going for the same price ($10) and the Nerf wheel is much nicer in my opinion. I would recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for me, August 22, 2009

Reading the other reviews of the Nerf Racing Wheel for the Wii, it seems to be a hit-or-miss product. You either really like it or find it to be a waste of money. I'm in the "really like it" crowd because I have big hands (it's larger than the "official" wheel) and might grip the wheel too hard in intense situations. Because of the softer feel, I don't really know if I've gripped too hard because my hands deal with the foam better than hard plastic. Responsiveness is fine, it hasn't hindered the sensitivity and mine seems to be well-built, showing no signs of falling apart yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Wheel, worth the money, March 14, 2009

I bought this at a store, while hubby plays with the original mario kart one. After about 90+ hours in one spot mine started to peal. I went online to see if I was the only one having this problem or if it was common. It seems I just got a glitch. I will definatley be going back to get another and hubby has claimed the peeling one as the original is just not comfortable and it is too easy to accidently hit your B button. So who has them on sale????

Soft and easy to use. I like that they come in different colors. Great product. Don't think too much about it, it's just simple plastic and foam.

Have a nice day!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Racing Wheel for Wii, April 21, 2010

I've used 3 different racing wheels for Wii- the standard Wii wheel (that came with mariokart, I think), a wheel that came with a different racing game, and this Nerf Wheel.

The nerf wheel is slightly bigger around than the other wheels, but less bulky. This makes it easier to hold on to, and in my opinion, easier to steer. But what really sets this wheel apart from the others is the nerf foam, which gives you a nice firm grip and is much more comfortable in your hands than the hard plastic of the other wheels.

The only possible drawback is durability. It holds up fine to normal use, but if small kids or a pet get a hold of it, it may end up with rips in the foam.

This racing wheel is one of the best wheels for Mario Kart. It is lightweight and easy on your hands and arms. The responsiveness is fantastic! My kids love this racing wheel for the Wii. Would recommend this Nerf Racing Wheel very highly!
