1.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst Wii games ever!, November 24, 2009
By
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Squeeballs Party (Video Game)
I have bought hundreds of products from amazon. I would have liked to go through my amazon.com lifetime anonymously. However, this game is so incredibly horrible that if I don't write a negative review my head might explode.

The game is violent; that is not the problem. Little cute creatures are mutilated and eaten. If you can get past that, the problem with the game is the actual game play. The game play controls are horrible; much of the game play relies solely on a lucky shot, not skill. The individual game instructions are confusing and almost nonexistent. For bowling, what does spin the wii remote actually imply? How does one spin a remote attached to one's wrist?

I would enjoy playing this game with the developers just to see how the game controls work; how does one control the bowling ball, how does one skip off the water for golf? How does one hit the racket during the canon sequence. One issue is that the game starts off very easy, then gets more difficult with regard to game play. Its as if the game testers stopped after the first round of each mini game.

In addition, the rest time between not finishing a mini-game and restarting it is long, adding to the frustration.

Bottom line, there are much better family games than this one. The creatures are cute, story line horrible and game play absolutely atrocious.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kind of a Bizarre game - could be fun for older kids but may be upsetting for little ones, November 16, 2009
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Squeeballs Party (Video Game)
From the cover and description it looks like a cute fun game for families to play together (and it probably is for families with older kids).

From the description, I thought this would be like Rayman Rabbids, where you fight the rabbids but with plungers and by racing or dancing with them- Fun right? Wrong - The storyline of this game is kind of bizarre. It starts off with really cute little creatures, fun animation, and happy music. You are testing the creatures to be sold in a store and but to do that you take these cute little creatures and violently murder them right and left. Most of the games would be on par with the violence in a looney tunes type cartoon (electrocuting, splatting them against the wall) but the worst is that you turn the cute little creatures in to sausage, grate them up, cook them and feed them to a monster to keep the monster from eating you. That is what put it over the top for us, grating up, grinding up and cooking up cute little creatures while they scream is just nightmarish. It looks like a fun game for little kids but instead it can be upsetting. I think this would be really fun for families with older kids because of the actions and the party format, and the squeeballs really are cute; but if you have small children I would advise playing it first before letting them see it to avoid tears.

After the fact, I found this video review of the game so that you can see if this would be ok for your kids or not before you purchase it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Animation, but Somewhat Violent, November 20, 2009
By
Rockermom (Geneva, IL USA) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Wii Squeeballs Party (Video Game)
My sons and I initially saw this game on a TV commercial, and it appeared to be good, family-oriented material. The animation is fun and very creative, with multiple games that can be played, such as bowling, cooking, painting, golf. However, I was a bit disappointed to see the violence in spots, such as when the cooking segment shows the squeeball characters being ground up and made into sausages - and they are wailing in pain. Granted, this is nothing compared to the guts and gore of the combat games out there. But you may want to play this yourself before allowing your children under 13, depending on your violence toleration level.
