5.0 out of 5 stars FAMILY FUN
This video game provides loads of fun for family video game night. This game is very entertaining especially for the younger crowd. There are several modes to play (head to head, one player, challenge, and party mode) and has remained a favorite for months.

We usually play in challenge mode and take turns at the wii remote to complete a challenge. This...

1.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst Wii games ever!, November 24, 2009

I have bought hundreds of products from amazon. I would have liked to go through my amazon.com lifetime anonymously. However, this game is so incredibly horrible that if I don't write a negative review my head might explode.

The game is violent; that is not the problem. Little cute creatures are mutilated and eaten. If you can get past that, the problem with the game is the actual game play. The game play controls are horrible; much of the game play relies solely on a lucky shot, not skill. The individual game instructions are confusing and almost nonexistent. For bowling, what does spin the wii remote actually imply? How does one spin a remote attached to one's wrist?

I would enjoy playing this game with the developers just to see how the game controls work; how does one control the bowling ball, how does one skip off the water for golf? How does one hit the racket during the canon sequence. One issue is that the game starts off very easy, then gets more difficult with regard to game play. Its as if the game testers stopped after the first round of each mini game.

In addition, the rest time between not finishing a mini-game and restarting it is long, adding to the frustration.

Bottom line, there are much better family games than this one. The creatures are cute, story line horrible and game play absolutely atrocious.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kind of a Bizarre game - could be fun for older kids but may be upsetting for little ones, November 16, 2009
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Squeeballs Party (Video Game)
From the cover and description it looks like a cute fun game for families to play together (and it probably is for families with older kids).

From the description, I thought this would be like Rayman Rabbids, where you fight the rabbids but with plungers and by racing or dancing with them- Fun right? Wrong - The storyline of this game is kind of bizarre. It starts off with really cute little creatures, fun animation, and happy music. You are testing the creatures to be sold in a store and but to do that you take these cute little creatures and violently murder them right and left. Most of the games would be on par with the violence in a looney tunes type cartoon (electrocuting, splatting them against the wall) but the worst is that you turn the cute little creatures in to sausage, grate them up, cook them and feed them to a monster to keep the monster from eating you. That is what put it over the top for us, grating up, grinding up and cooking up cute little creatures while they scream is just nightmarish. It looks like a fun game for little kids but instead it can be upsetting. I think this would be really fun for families with older kids because of the actions and the party format, and the squeeballs really are cute; but if you have small children I would advise playing it first before letting them see it to avoid tears.

After the fact, I found this video review of the game so that you can see if this would be ok for your kids or not before you purchase it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Animation, but Somewhat Violent, November 20, 2009

My sons and I initially saw this game on a TV commercial, and it appeared to be good, family-oriented material. The animation is fun and very creative, with multiple games that can be played, such as bowling, cooking, painting, golf. However, I was a bit disappointed to see the violence in spots, such as when the cooking segment shows the squeeball characters being ground up and made into sausages - and they are wailing in pain. Granted, this is nothing compared to the guts and gore of the combat games out there. But you may want to play this yourself before allowing your children under 13, depending on your violence toleration level.

1.0 out of 5 stars This Game is Very Sick! Not for Children!!, December 26, 2009

I am VERY upset to have purchased this game thinking it was a cute, family friendly game we could play together. Instead I see cute creatures being tortured, in pain, and experiencing fear. It's not typical violence, it's the kind that will desensitize to emotion. This game should NOT BE ON THE MARKET!

I purchased this game for my 8 year old daughter. Let me just say she LOVES IT! As for myself, not a game I would ever purchase or play again. I know the characters are fake but hearing them scream and watching them die isn't for me!

1.0 out of 5 stars Game is violent; Control/ challenge is mediocre, December 28, 2009

Like the other reviewers, I was shocked by the violence in this game.

The cooking segment shows the little squeeball animals being ground into sausages as they whimper in pain, and the sausages still wiggle around while being cooked as if still alive. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's shocking to actually watch it, especially when it is not expected in a kid's game. One dog is thrown in a pot of soup, whimpers and you hear it drown and then you fish the bones of the carcass out before feeding it to another carnivorous squeeball. It's not just cartoon violence, like an anvil on a coyote's head. The characters are depicted as feeling fear and pain--- being terrorized. It's upsetting to watch, even being fully aware that these are not real living beings. In the tennis portion, their eyes and various body parts fly off as they cry in pain when they are hit.

If the content doesn't offend you, the game play is not as reactive as other wii games. We have "professional" scores in wii bowling and continually get gutter balls in this game as the ball doesn't roll according to how you move the wiimote. The tennis portion is the same way--- hard to hit and no rhyme or reason as to where they fly.

We played each portion of this game, just to "give it a chance", but there was nothing we enjoyed about it. I can't believe that warner brothers (the manufacturer of the game for wii) would release such a game. It is marketed as a cute little stuffed animal game, but be warned that it will be disturbing to a vast portion of people. For those who can tolerate the violence, it is doubtful that it will be enjoyed in terms of game challenge.

This game was bought for my 10 year old granddaughter. She was very excited about getting the game and thought that it would be very exciting. What she discovered is it was incredibly disappointing. Even the simple bowling game was hard to play. Ball never seemed to go where you directed it. She also commented that the cooking part of the game was fun, but no matter how well you performed the task, even if you did it quickly and fed the monster on time it would say that "you failed". She loves her DS and it gives her good entertainment, but she felt that this DS game was a big disappointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars FAMILY FUN, October 30, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Squeeballs Party (Video Game)
This video game provides loads of fun for family video game night. This game is very entertaining especially for the younger crowd. There are several modes to play (head to head, one player, challenge, and party mode) and has remained a favorite for months.

We usually play in challenge mode and take turns at the wii remote to complete a challenge. This allows the whole family to play as a team without being as competitive as the other modes (a huge bonus for a family with two small boys close in age). The games start out simple with bowling, hitting the squeeballs with a racket, and cooking challenges. The better you do at the games the more challenges you unlock with a "shock" game being the first. Although there are limited games available the skill factor is upped every time you do them. There is cartoon violence involved that appeals to small boys but might not appeal to their parents (if you do not complete the shock game properly, the squeeball is electrocuted to dust).

This video game excels as as family game and I highly recommend it with the understanding that it involves cartoon violence. This game would not appeal to those looking for a serious challenge.

This game may be a little violent for younger children. But, it's a fun game-the controls are a little quirky; sometimes unresponsive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!, February 18, 2011

This review is from: Wii Squeeballs Party (Video Game)
The Squeeballs Party is lots of fun, and it gets harder as you go through it so it's not boring. I was really surprised at how entertaining it is, as this isn't my usual type of game. You need to figure out some of each of the games strategies to get through them, like pulling back on the slingshot for the painting picture game so you cover more of the picture with each squeeball, so it makes you think, too. We really like it.
