I bought this guitar as a second one so if someone wanted to play bass we would have it. Our first guitar is Guitar Hero 5 so to compare the two i did some measuring. Guitar hero 5 guitar is approx. 2 inches longer and the base is about 1 inch larger than this one. Not really a problem. I read all reviews prior to buying this so to address the loudness of the clicking when you strum, it's louder than our other one but not really a bother to us because we usually play all our music games fairly loud. I just tested all our games with this guitar and it works with the following: Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero-Legends of Rock, Band Hero, Guitar Hero-World Tour, Rock Band 3, Lego Rock Band, Rock Band-The Beatles. This guitar also worked in multiplayer mode with our the other guitar.

Here's what I have tried that works so far:
Guitar Hero Aerosmith
Guitar Hero Metallica
Guitar Hero Van Halen
Guitar Hero Smash Hits
Guitar Hero World Tour
Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock
Band Hero
Rock Band 2
Rock Band 3
Rock Band Beatles
Lego Rock Band
AC/DC Track Pack
Metal Track Pack
Rock Band Green Day
Classic Rock Track Pack
(I have not tried Guitar Hero III which I'm trying to find but I'll assume it works unless someone says otherwise.)
This means that if I'm right, it only doesn't work with Rock Band 1 and Track Packs Vol. 1 and 2.

Just got this guitar...It would appear the product description is not entirely accurate. The guitar is not recognized on Rock Band 1 for the Wii (it also did not work on Rock Band Track Pack Volume 2). That being said, the guitar works perfectly on Beatles Rock Band. I have not tried it with any of the Guitar Hero titles or other Rock Band titles.
I would love to hear other people's findings on this guitar. I REPEAT--THIS GUITAR DOES NOT WORK ON WII ROCK BAND 1 OR ROCK BAND TRACK PACK VOLUME 2. It works on Wii Beatles Rock Band. I'm interested in seeing if it'll work for Band Hero or the other Wii titles that utilize the guitar peripheral.
It looks like I'm going to have to break down and buy the official guitars for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Nice alternative to the Ebay imports and Overpriced official Nintendo/Activision controllers. As compared to the GH5 it has a little bit larger thumb/strum bar. A plus in my book. Fret buttons have two indicator marks on them as opposed to one for the GH5 controller which makes it easier to identify button and hand position without looking down. Another plus. It runs right off the controller without any additional batteries needed, just like the GH5 controller which is great. Button placement takes a bit getting used to but it's ok. It does not have the touch sensitive neck slider buttons, which is a big negative as it limits your point scoring ability in GH5 and GHWT which support that feature. I prefer the whammy bar on the Extreme 2 to the one on the GH5 controller which seems pretty flimsy. Overall good build quality.

Now just need to find compatible face plates or stickers for this white beast.

With its price so much lower than other Wii guitars, I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of quality from this product. But overall I've been very pleased so far. The guitar seems fairly solidly built, and has worked flawlessly. The only downsides are the noise made by the strap (it squeaks as it rotates around the knob where it connects to the guitar, which is annoying when you're playing and moving around), and the instruction "manual" (really just a single sheet of paper) that was clearly not written by a native English speaker. For the price, though, I'm quite happy with this guitar. It is also fully compatible with The Beatles Rock Band.

Hello,
well, We just got this guitar today. Amazon was great as always with shipping etc. The reviews I have read I was a bit shy about ordering this for the family. Price won out. All said. So far it's great, from my stand point. My kids and I play guitar hero together all the time online with the wii. I went looking for a guitar that had better action than the WOR stock guitar,I think I found it. The pros, whammy bar, works much better then the other 2 guitars we have. action, for me is great ! as far as the strum bar. Way better then the WOR one, equal to the world tour or better. It is a little bit shorter than the other 2 we have, but I can get used to that. So far Great over all !! the cons,.... I guess if you can call them that. The neck and head stock look cheaper. More like a toy. I'm getting by that. The all white body, well we put a Pittsburgh Penguins sticker on it ! now it really ROCKS ! (lol) Dressed it up a tad ya could say. for the $40 I don't think you can go wrong,as to the $80 for a real activision one. As far as reviews about the controller getting pulled out and broken wires, with out support. I have rebuilt broked drums and all that. so don't worry about it being cheap. We will test it more tonight, but for the money it's a good buy! I'll post another review in a few days after we put it to the test. So far I would say buy it ! Rock On !

I ordered three of these guitars so my daughters and I could all play Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero (despite what the box says, these guitars do work with Band Hero). Right out of the box, two out of the three guitars had broken locking mechanisms where the neck is locked into the body of the guitar. The third one broke shortly after I put it together. The locking mechanism seems like it should be spring-loaded, but the springs came loose and are now rattling around in the bodies of all three guitars, which is slightly annoying. Still, the guitars do seem to function, and I just used electrical tape to secure the locking mechanism.

We had previously borrowed a couple of the actual Activision guitars to play, so I can offer some comparisons. I actually find the fret buttons a bit easier to reach, though they do not seem as responsive as the buttons on the Activision guitar. They aren't exactly harder to push, but I think you have to push them down further to get them to read, if that makes sense. Unlike some other reviewers, I feel that the strum bar is quieter, which is nice for those times when we can't crank the music up to cover the clicking noise. Others have also said they prefer the whammy bar on the cheaper guitar, but I don't. It works just fine, but it seems a little less responsive to me.

All in all, it's a decent guitar for the price (especially when you need to buy three of them). If you've never used the Activision guitar, you will never know what you're missing. And even if you have, it doesn't take long to adjust to the minor differences between the two.

UPDATE: We've had the guitars for several months now, and they have slowly been breaking down. The whammy bar quit working on one of the guitars, and another one has a green fret button that sometimes quits working. Also, the strum bars seem like they aren't as responsive - it's very difficult to hit a string of many notes in quick succession. Still, I don't regret the purchase. I play the one guitar that still works well and pawn the other ones off on my kids (it's a good way to maintain my high scores).

I recently purchased two of these guitars to replace my worn World Tour guitars. They are adequate replacements and the cost was more than reasonable. I also received them in excellent condition within 10 days of placing my order. However the craftsmanship is not what I had hoped. The Wii remote is a very tight fit in the compartment and difficult to remove. The bodies of the guitars are also several inches smaller than the ones I replaced making them more awkward to play. The keys are less sensitive, requiring more pressure to register the notes and the strum bar doesn't spring back as quickly as on the World Tour guitar. All in all they are adequate considering there are few replacement guitars that will operate with most of the games I own. It is compatible with the following Guitar Hero games: Warriors of Rock, Band Hero, Smash Hits, Hero 5, World Tour, and with the following Rock Band games: Band 2, Country Track Pack, Country Track Pack 2, and The Beatles (although some of the navigational keys do not work with the Rock Band games).

I used this wii guitar a couple of times before the kids took over. It works very well and was much cheaper than any other wii guitar I had looked at. My kids use this with Lego Rockband and they love it. We have been using it for 4 months and have not had any problems at all.
