I read "Wil of God" in two sittings, drawn in by the beautiful prose, the sentiments, the occasional tension and always, always the resolution and deep spirituality of its author, Carrie Link. Whether you have a child with disabilities or not, whether you are religious or not, whether you are a mother or not, I believe this book will teach you something about what it means to be human. I highly recommend the book to everyone, but particularly to those who parent a child with special healthcare needs.

Carrie Link is a woman, mother, writer, and seeker, who isn't afraid of confronting the realities of her normal life, which includes an exceptional, autistic child. This honest, spiritual, and brave account of raising her son, Wil, is also about maintaining her sanity and her marriage. Carrie is not afraid to look for and follow the signs, and in all of these intimate moments of noticing, she invites her readers to journey alongside her. These are the details that make the story truly hers, from her daily routines, to Wil's words of wisdom, you will be glad to know Carrie, and you will better for witnessing the beauty and challenges of Wil's presence in her world.

Carrie Wilson Link has beautifully chronicled the challenges of raising her special son, Wil. His energy is palpable. Her resolve unbelievable. She takes her readers down a road few of us have traveled. The road is indeed rocky. Carrie eloquently bares her soul while Wil steals your heart. This is a book to read at the "community table" of your local coffee shop because it should be shared and shared and shared. This story will touch a place deep in your heart and you will be forever changed for having read it. You will like the new you.

Life takes us to places we never dreamed of. Carrie Link's life with Wil is the fairy tale that no one ever tells; finding absolute love and joy in the messiness of life through a special boy. Carrie's journey hasn't been easy, but she is wise beyond her years because of her unrelenting steadfastness and search for truth. Love is abundant! Love, love, loved this book.

I loved Wil of God. I do not have a special needs child, and I do not consider myself partciularly spirtitual, yet this book spoke to me on so many levels. I think that is because I believe Wil of God speaks universal truths about raising children, finding ourselvs, redefining our lives, and moving forward with grace and good humor. Lots of good humor - this book is laugh out loud funny at times. This book is a fairly quick read, but one that will stay with you.

As a mother of a child with special needs I could so relate to the story that Carrie told in her book. You laughed and cried as you journeyed with her spiritually through the everyday life of raising such a special child! It isn't just about her son, or her spiritual journey, or her community, but the whole package deal that any mom could connect with in some way! Loved it and reading it for the second time!

Carrie Link puts into writing the aching-joy of mothering in a way that just makes you feel like it's all going to be okay. Because, it is. But how we forget! I found myself wanting to copy and paste, highlight, scribble on my arm, post on facebook, Etc.- her words, that put into language what has been vague and uncaptured for me and I know others. Carrie has the ability to see the reality that her beautiful boy is the Teacher that each of our children are sent to be. Only from somewhere holy does this kind of vision arrive. And - she finds humor in it all, cracks me up. If you are a mom (or Dad) who is always doubting herself like I am- Read. This. Book.
