This breezy video features some comical footage of dogs and their owners, segments on recipes you can cook for your dog, and also some serious information from a canine nutritionist and a veterinarian. In interviews that pop up throughout the production, people talk about their dogs and what they mean to them. The host of the program periodically dons an apron, invites his collies to "come and bake," runs into the kitchen and whips up some homemade treats, such as banana muffins and a carrot cake that's ideal for a dog's birthday celebration. The theme of doggie diet is continued with a segment featuring a canine nutritionist, certified by Cornell University, who gives some serious warnings about specific foods to avoid, as well as useful tips for spotting when a dog's diet is causing allergic reactions. A visit to "Hollywood's Doggie Dentist," Dr. David Neilson, provides some lessons on cleaning a dog's teeth and some tips on picking out chew toys that assist in dental hygiene. The production of this video isn't terribly slick, but the offbeat combination of both whimsical and serious aspects of dog ownership works well and makes for an entertaining production.
