Overlooked Treasure from the Past,
By Dan Miller (Roselle, Illinois United States) - See all my reviews

Right after I saw this "B" movie in the 60's I bought the soundtrack. The movie was pretty awful, but the music was sensational! I still listen to it today with just as much enjoyment as I did many years ago. This has got to be the best biker soundtrack ever. You simply can't not love it! If you can find it, buy it.

My parents had this on vinyl when I was very young. And then it dissappeared , My mom gave me the record when I was six so I remember the music alot. when they released this on cd I bought it almost immediately , only to discover that it only contained half on the songs from the record , and half of from the soundtrack album of another version of a "Wild Angels" score (I believe it was called more songs from the movie), and now this cd is also out of print. So why did they even bother?

This is the movie and music that made me buy a hog,
By Road Captain (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews

In '67 I was bound for the U of I to be a doctor just like old Dad. A `blind' date introduced me to the movie & green-eyed Sparkle. She was into bad boy bikers and wanted to ride. I used the `school' cash to buy a surplus Army HD. Too many road trips meant I'd never finish collage thus got caught in the draft. I spent 16 month in SEA on Uncle Sam. I knew I'd never make it back and was so afraid it would show in my letters I stopped writing Sparkle.
Got home in 1969, no one remember her at the old flat, Danny's Bar on Clark, or near campus. I couldn't go home and face the family since I had no future, no hope, no job, and was mad at everything. I existed half-drunk fixing bikes and temp work for three years. Lonely nights in a dark room over a garage would find this album on the turntable, up loud, and a Bud in my hand. It was going to be just another weekend night, pissed off at the world until; She came into the "Thirsty Whale". With "Blue's Theme" pounding in my head, lust on my mind, and a strong need to beat-the-hell out of somebody, I used my rusty hand-to-hand skills to convince her date to scram. Whack, the slap stung. It tumbled out: I was a brute, why didn't I write, why should she talk to me, get lost, @*%#, I'm so mad at you. ****** And a hug! After almost 40 years, 16 bikes and 200,000+ miles on two wheels - I still ride my Hog, listen to my music and love to feel Sparkle's hug as we motor on. The vinyl album is gone but, the life, the music and woman remain.

Great Album...,

No matter if you have seen the movie or not, this is a great album.
Lots of diverse music, and lots of that 60s guitar twang that Davie Allen & The Arrows mastered. "Midnight Rider" is a great tune, along with the hog being revved up at the beginning of "Blue's Theme". I'm glad to have found this finally available again (I use to listen to my father's original LP of this back in the 70s.. and still have it). But this is not the original LP version release in the 60s.. They are missing a few tracks from the vinal LP that is not seen on thsi digital LP, why they left them out is beyond me after all it is music from the movie and they are real good tracks (both instrumentals): "The Chase" - Davie Allen & The Arrows (Side 1 Song #2) "Bongo Party" - Davie Allen & The Arrows (Side 1 Song #4) But the Elvis-like sounds of The Hands of Time's "Lonely In The Chapel" is here, and the fuzzed out "Blues Theme", along with "Midnight Rider" (also from The Hands Of Time). Great stuff from the past.... and best of all its 256 kbps with NO DRM.

I've been wanting this for years only to find out they shorted me the Losers theme, which starts out with the coolest drum solo ever played. It's the part where Loser steals the cops' bike and gets shot. How could these idiots leave it out? I read the the selections and thought they had changed the name. No wonder everybody is selling these things used. What a rip off!!!!

There is a long story behind why I loved this album back in the 60's, which I am not going to get into right now. Suffice to say that I played that vinyl record 40 years ago every day for a very long long time. The new CD version was very dissapointing. It sounds "too modern". There are songs that weren't in the originl vynil edition, which I wouldn't mind. But what irked me was that there were others in the original that are missing here. Can't remember the names after so many years, but I clearly remember a song with a bongo solo that is not in the CD version, and that happens to be one of my favorites.
