4.0 out of 5 stars Daevid Allen - 'Australia Aquaria' + Mother Gong - 'Wild Child' (Burning Airlines), October 5, 2009
Apparently, this is a 'special' 2-CD pressing of a couple of Gong-related titles. Daevid Allen's 'Australia Aquaria' ('90) and Mother Gong - 'Wild Child' ('91) - see my review of the Spalax issue. As for the Daevid Allen title here, this was the first time I've ever heard it and it's up-to-par I have to say. Didn't know exactly what to make of the off-the-wall ballad "Gaia", but I loved the Gong-like "Peaceful Warrior" as well as the fourteen-minute title cut "Australia Aquaria" and the Avant Garde "She". Thought that "Slave Queen" had a nice flow to it and that "Voice Of OM Dub" was nearly worth the price of admission alone. Line-up: Daevid Allen-guitar, keyboards & vocals, Conrad Henderson-bass, Harry Williamson-tenor sax, Graham Clark-violin and Rob George-drums. A true keeper.
