5.0 out of 5 stars Enya's Best Single Ever!
I own several cd "singles" by Enya, and have to say, although each is a masterpiece in its own right, WILD CHILD surpasses all of them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wild Child
While I have many of Enya's CD's, and immensely enjoy her music, I was disappointed in the "Wild Child" CD. I was not disappointed by the music, but rather by the limited number of tracks on the CD - three to be exact, with a total playing time of just over 9 minutes. With [this price], I certainly would have expected a "full" CD. Even though I may have only myself to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Enya's Best Single Ever!, November 30, 2001

I own several cd "singles" by Enya, and have to say, although each is a masterpiece in its own right, WILD CHILD surpasses all of them.

Wild Child, the second and most current single off Enya's multi-platinum hit A Day Without Rain, never really garnered the amount of recognition the first single, Only Time, did. Although Wild Child isn't as touching or deep as Only Time, it is a splendid piece. The strings, synthesizer, and roaring melody that all combine in this piece are breathtaking. Joyous, happy, soaring and passionate, I can't help but get a smile on my face when I listen to this invigorating song. I really enjoy this song because it shows a different side of Enya-a little lighter and a lot more upbeat. It's unencumbered, invigorating, and revitalizing. It doesn't exactly break the mold of previous Enya singles, but why should it? Enya's got a formula, it works, and why should she change it? Enya's voice really seems to have heart and rhythm in this piece, as well, and that's another reason why I adore WILD CHILD. Note: The difference between this "radio edit" edition and the regular song off the cd is that this edition runs 3:33, about fourteen seconds less than the album addition, cutting of some of the incessant repetitions of "what a day" at the end of the song.

The second piece on this single is an extremely rare non-album track, "Midnight Blue." It's an instrumental, a synthesizer being the predominate instrument I would presume. It's relaxed, fresh, and carries some of the similar feeling of WILD CHILD. At 2:04, it's the perfect length for an instrumental such as this.

The real gem, though, of the WILD CHILD single is "Song of the Sandman." I love this extremely moving piece. It's categorized as a "lullaby," but I think it's a bit more passionate than a lullaby while incorporating the soothing, gentle elements indicative of a lullaby. If it doesn't put you in a more stress-free state, it will certainly move you emotionally with its tender lyrics. This song really should have been included on A Day Without Rain, perhaps after Fallen Embers.

Purchase the WILD CHILD single and you'll get almost ten minutes of music that is comprised of a marvelous, upbeat title track along with two very rare, very special songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra tracks help to flesh out "A Day Without Rain", March 28, 2001
This CD single contains the radio version of "Wild Child". The CD also includes two new bonus tracks, "Midnight Blue" and "Song of the Sandman", which helps to flesh out the recent release of Enya's new album "A Day Without Rain".

"Midnight Blue" is a contemplative and thoughtful instrumental, while "Song of the Sandman" is a quiet vocal song.

Between the extra cuts on this disc and the two bonus tracks on the CD single "Only Time", the album (which clocks in at approximately 35:00 minutes), becomes more complete.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enya's Best Single to Date!, July 9, 2001

Besides the fact that the UK cassette version contains a radio edit of the title song, and Enya's greatest work ever: "Isobella", the CD release has Enya's second best work of art, "Song of the Sandman".

"Wild Child" is infectious. It is so happy, so rushed, so beautiful. It is a wonderful song that does not lose much with this radio edit, as was the case with "On My Way Home". Enya's second best piano solo is found here, and only here: "Midnight Blue". It's mysterious and atmospheric. The last track on this short little treasure (it clocks in at just under ten minutes) is "Song of the Sandman: A Lullaby" It's a quiet, gentle, ethereal song that stands out from any of the work Enya has ever done and takes it's place beside "Isobella" (a Japanese bonus track on: "A Day Without Rain"). This is the track that makes the CD worth the money, and the fact that this is the ONLY place you can get it!

CAN YOU HEAR THE NIGHT'S DEEP SONG? / ALL THE SHADOWS SAY / TELLING YOU WHEN YOU'RE ASLEEP / TEARS WILL FADE AWAY / DREAM OF MORNING'S GOLDEN LIGHT / WHEN YOU AND I WILL LEAVE THE NIGHT.

I've gotten a pretty complete collection of Enya's work, just bought this one for the extra song or two on it. I like the radio edit of Wild Child but think maybe that there's something about #3 Song of the Sandman that I like better.
Anything by Enya is great, this little CD is no exception, I just wish that the price was lower.

I've been following the music of this lady since early 1989 and have many favorite songs by her. Along with "Wild Child" is a beautiful piano piece called "Midnight Blue"....however one of the best Enya songs ever is the third piece called "Song of the Sandman"...very haunting, meloncholy..almost sad but a classic nontheless. It is a shame it does not appear on one of her albums as most people will miss out on this song. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves Enya.

There is not alot I can say about this album. The music speaks for its self. There are 3 great songs on the CD.Wild child, midnight blue(a beautiful instrumental)and the best one of all, song of the sandman. This song sounds like a lull-a-by.It is so soothing,if I am too relaxed when I listen to it,I fall sleep every time.I always said no song will ever top'exile'.Then I heard-song of the sandman. Both songs are so beautiful,I'D never be able to pick between them.I gave this CD a 5 but Enya will always be a 10 in my book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, and very Powerful..., November 18, 2001
This review is from: Wild Child (Audio CD)
I do not own this single, but I was so taken by it on Enya's website, that I often go to it just to hear the songs. It starts off with the uplifting track of "Wild Child," (which I own on her album "Day Without Rain," and continues with the mysterious, enchanting, and somewhat darker track, "Midnight Blue." My personal favorite, however, is the final track, "Song of the Sandman." It is one, if not the most haunting and gorgeous of Enya's material. I was however, dissapointed on the CD only having 3 songs, but it will be well worth your money. Trust me!! Go out and get this collection..even if you have to pay a bit extra, (because it is not sold here in the US,) and be prepared to be swept away!!! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT, May 14, 2001
WILD CHILD IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FROM A DAY WITHOUT RAIN. THIS CD HAS AN EDITED VERSION OF WILD CHILD. TRACK 2 IS MIDNIGHT BLUE, WHICH IS A BEAUTIFUL AND ELEGANT PIANO INSTRUMENTAL, TRACK 3 IS SONG OF THE SANDMAN-IS A LOVELY SONG, IT REMINDS YOU OF EARLIER ENYA SONGS LIKE EVENING FALLS, EVACUEE & HOPE HAS A PLACE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wild Child, August 20, 2002

This review is from: Wild Child (Audio CD)
I just ordered this cd, I haven't listened to it yet, but I have a feeling it will be good. I have all of her albums and they're all great. I've heard "Wild Child" play on the radio and it caught me, I thought "wait a minute, this sounds different". And it does sound different than the one on "A Day Without Rain". But after I heard this one on the radio, I liked it better than the one on the album. One differences is, that it adds procussion (drums) to it, and I like that, it seems to make it more dramatic. So I looked everywhere for this single. I love listening to her music. I would listen to her while I was reading "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, it really blends right in and it also gives the books more drama (though they still have plenty of drama in them even if you don't listen to enya while reading them). Anyway, I hope she comes up with another album and some more songs to the other two "Lord of the Rings" films coming out.
