About the Author
The author was born in Zambia. He is a medical doctor, psychiatrist, Jungian analyst and Wilderness guide. He is a former international rugby player having played fullback for the South African Springboks between 1970 and 1974. His first novel, Thorns to Kilimanjaro, will be published in July 2000 by David Philip Publishers, Cape Town, South Africa.

Ian McCallum shares with us all what true wilderness is and gives us, and what many of us,even in the "wild places" fail to understand: the uniqueness of the wild,its animals,plants,trees,bushes,grasses,smells,sounds and ultimately the urgency to truly respect it,love it and protect it. One has to be touched,somehow,if you read it aloud. "ECHO" ; "THEY NEVER ASKED" and "TRACKING" touched my heart particularly. We may become a better person by reading it - I know I have.
