Maggie Randolph's grandfather Frank insisted that she marry, he mentioned a widower he had found for her.
She made up a story that she was intending to marry Joe Colbert. She thought because of the feud her grandfather and the Colberts were having would make him drop his demand.
Instead he sent for Joe, they made the arrangements for the marriage there and then.
Before she knew it she was Mrs Joe Colbert. Without meaning to she started to become attracted to her husband.
Only to find he was just as attracted to her.
Maggie ended up pregnant, but Frank, and Joe fighting caused her to become clumsy, she fell. She lost the baby, and then lost her husband.
Joe made sure Maggie knew he wanted her back by sending her the deed to Wild Horse Canyon.
Maggie returned it to him. Even though she wanted to be back with Joe, she didn't want pity.
Joe wanted Maggie back anyway she would come.
