5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT
This HOW all reissues should look (and
sound) like.
Just an exact replica of the original
LP - same cover everything.
Nothing else.
I guess you have to buy Japanese
pressings to get this.

3.0 out of 5 stars not totally terrible
"Arranged by Bob James" is usually a death sentence to a record. This one, due to its stellar line-up and some red-hot playing from Grover Washington, Jr. (a quality I rarely associate with him) occasionally gets past the "lame James" arrangements. (Only Bob James would arrange the Stones' "Wild Horses" as third-rate spaghetti-western theme music. (Morricone he ain't.)...

3.0 out of 5 stars not totally terrible, November 13, 2011
"Arranged by Bob James" is usually a death sentence to a record. This one, due to its stellar line-up and some red-hot playing from Grover Washington, Jr. (a quality I rarely associate with him) occasionally gets past the "lame James" arrangements. (Only Bob James would arrange the Stones' "Wild Horses" as third-rate spaghetti-western theme music. (Morricone he ain't.) The best tune on the album, and an awful rendition. Cobham playing like an overactive young kid who can't get it off fast enough. Eesh.) Weirdly, corny tunes like "I Don't Know Ho To Lo-ove Him" and "It's Impossible" fare better with fewer gimmicks and hotter playing. Bob James probably "understood" that stuff much better than the Stones' music, so felt less of a need to goof it up. A weird mix of tunes, but some good playing makes for some decent listening. Then again, you can easily pass on this and not be missing anything. Bob James, in case you're listening: next time you're asked to produce a record, unless it's for a fellow lame-o like Kenny G or Klugh, tell 'em you're busy. Please. Thank you.
