Book Description

It's not easy being the 3000-years-dead mortal lover of an Asgardian god, especially when said god happens to be Loki, god of mischief. But after numerous attempts at negotiating with Hela, goddess of the dead, Loki finally convinces his daughter to release the soul of his lover. Of course, not everyone is happy with this - such as Angraboda, Loki's Jotun mistress...

Follow the romantic misadventures of Miriam, lover of Loki, in this sexy, humorous, and fast-paced tale.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun read! April 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An entertaining romp between mortal and immortal.

Could use some editing and proofreading but nothing major. Would love to read the next one.

3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting Norse-flavored tale. February 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Personally, I'd heard much about this book since its release earlier this year, and so I was pleased to finally be able to sit down and actually read it. Having spent the last few months immersing myself in 'the lore' (the serious business of the Poetic Eddas, the Prose Eddas, and so on), I found it refreshing to read a bit of something 'lighter' for a change.

That said, I was looking forward to some interesting twists!

Even though, I was initially intimidated by the sheer length of Wild Hunt (486 pages), I can tell you that the story-line is fast-paced and an easy read. As other have said, the story arc does get bogged down in places, but I found this book, overall, to be an enjoyable read with enough action and erotic steam to keep things interesting.

Though I realize that this is Monica's first book - and overall, I enjoyed it - the reason why I gave it three stars is two-fold:

First, there were some interesting characters that were introduced so briefly (Rachel, for one), that the reader isn't given much of chance to get to know them or even care about them, so they become almost stereotypes or caricatures, due to minimal character development. A few times, I found myself wondering why certain people were introduced into the story who seemed entirely unnecessary to furthering the plot in any way, and that was a bit disconcerting.

Secondly, the conclusion of this exciting, action-packed tale seemed rushed and a bit confusing to follow. Occurring the last 20 pages or so, the conclusion was sudden enough to be somewhat jarring. The build-up of tension was well-done, and the pacing of action in the story was good...and then, the brakes get slammed down upon entirely too soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read. April 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked the story and it was well told. The pacing is a bit slow during the first part of the book, but then picks up.
The erotic scenes were hot and done well.
I like the author's take on the old Norse gods, especially Loki.
I'm not giving it 5 stars, as I think the book needs another round of proofreading; the errors disturbed my joy of reading the story.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read February 9, 2014
By Jenny
Format:Kindle Edition
I feel a bit mean only giving this book 3 stars and I will do my best to explain why. I did enjoy the book but I found myself not really liking the characters and therefore not really caring what happened to them. The story itself moves along at a good pace and the story itself is a good one even if I will admit to there being times that I got a little lost as to what was happening and having to go back and re-read a few sentences.

The story centres around the life of Miriam who has been reincarnated after thousands of years of begging on behalf of the God Loki. Yup for all of those who have watched the latest Marvel film Thor then you will recognise some of the names! Unfortunately for her there is another who had fought for centuries against this happening and therefore made it her mission to ensue that Miriam died again. This meant that there were many incidents throughout Miriam's life where heartache and pain were a key feature.

Miriam also never forgot her first kiss at 18 with a guy she met called Luke and no other has ever compared to the brief moments she had in his arms so when they meet again years later and revelations as to who he is come to light things needless to say get interesting.

All in all it is a good book but for me it was just missing that something 'extra' to warrant a 4 star review. The ending for me confused me as to what Miriam ended up being, perhaps if there is another story then this will be explained further.

Please note I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

More About the Author

I'm a stay at home mom living in Nova Scotia Canada for now, that might change due to my partner's career. I'm aspiring to be both an author and a chef. I have two children, one of whom has Autism, but she's verbal and wants to become an author as well so I'm encouraging that.

I was a military brat growing up, we moved from coast to coast until I was 13 then he retired and we moved to an island in the middle of the Bay of Fundy called Grand Manan. There my English Teacher kept poking and prodding me with encouragement so now I'm here writing.

So no fancy literary degree here. Just the LPN of the Animal Medicine world and a high school diploma. Sorry bout that. Hope I don't disappoint.
