Funny,
By MAD4ROMBKS "Mad" (North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wet & Wild (Leisure Time Travel Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ragnor Magnusson is bored. He's 27 years old and lately feels that things aren't as they should be. He misses his family immensely and decides to go a-Viking with some fellow friends of his. Never for one minute did he imagine what would happen to him next. Just as he thought he was dying in battle, he sees a beautiful redhead beckoning him to come to her and he comes to as someone is shoving his head underwater in the ocean. Hitting back at the man trying to drown him, Ragnor swims to shore and later finds out he's traveled through time and is mistakenly taken for a SEAL recruit.
Lieutenant Alison MacLean is the sister of Ian MacLean, the man training Ragnor and the other men to be SEALs. She's not your typical petite heroine. She's almost 6 feet tall and has had to work hard to get where she is now. Previously engaged to the man of her dreams, Allison wants nothing to do with heartaches after her fiance was killed two years earlier. But things change when she meets Ragnor. It's lust at first sight for Ragnor, but Allison tends to follow the rules so what is a Viking to do, but woo her into his bed? How he ended up in a different time he doesn't know, but he knows Allison is his destiny because she was the woman he saw when he thought he was dying. What follows is a rollicking laugh-out-loud adventure between the two of them. I laughed out loud so often reading this that my daughter was constantly giving me looks, probably wondering what was wrong with her mom. *G* You know you're in for a great read when you pick up a Sandra Hill book. Be sure to pick up WET & WILD when you see it on the shelves...you won't be sorry. Mad

What's not to like!!!,
By Crushes "Romance booklover" (San Jose, CA) - See all my reviews

This is one of the funniest books that I've read in a long time. Ragnor, the male protagonist, is a viking warrior who's traveled through time and wakes up in a Navy Seals camp. He falls for a superior officer, Lieutenant Alison MacLean, and is punished by her brother, Master Chief Ian MacLean, for daring to want his sister. Ragnor, with his audacious charm and built-for-sin body, is a character you can't help but love. The dialogue is witty and sharp, and all of the characters are hard to resist. I can't wait to read about Ian and Ragnor's sister, Madrene, as well as the many other characters introduced in this book!!!

Funniest book I've read in a long time! Oh it's steamy too!,

Ragnor... a wickedly delicious source of addiction, comes with its own recipe: 1 part Viking warrior, 1 part U.S. Navy SEAL, 1 part Greek God (well, in appearance anyway); add some wise-guyness, wicked sense of humor, total disregard for rules and regulations, natural inclination to always stir things up (be it tempers, hearts or senses), and top it all off with a certain ... enthusiasm, that's back with a vengeance.
Ten long and devastating years after loosing almost his entire family, Ragnor, a born and raised Viking warrior, finds himself in the middle of unfamiliar war games, in a strange land, surrounded by enemies unlike any he's ever known before. Following his instinct of survival he plays along, searching for explanations for the baffling situation he's in. Somehow he also believes that he has found his Destiny. Unfortunately, his Destiny outranks him, is completely forbidden to him and thinks he needs to see a shrink. Ragnor might be alone (or is he?) and confused in this new world, but he's certain that he will have what is his. What a treat it is to read a book you can't put down until you've read it cover-to-cover, and laughed out loud most of the time (earning constant stares from everyone in your home). I think that's a Sandra Hill trademark, but "Wet & Wild" in particular, exceeded even those expectations. The book is hilarious, incredibly steamy and wonderfully written (I just couldn't put it down). I even loved the secondary characters, and wouldn't mind reading a few of their stories. Long live the Ericssons and the talent of Ms. Hill!

Still chuckling . . .,
This review is from: Wet & Wild (Leisure Time Travel Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ok, the plot is a little wacky and unbelievable, but the dialog was so funny. I was laughing out loud so much, my family made me leave the room. Sandra's humor really shown through on this book. I had trouble believing some of the plot in regards to the Navy Seals program, but take this book for what it is - a humorous romance novel.
I've read many books from Sandra and I've liked them all, but this book made me laugh out loud more than any of the others.

I loved this book and all the Sandra Hill books that I have read. You can depend on her to deliver a good time. I never worry when I pick up one of her books I know I will enjoy it. It will be hot and romantic and funny and so much other stuff. This one did not disapoint. I am not one to give book reports when I review a book because when I look at the reviews I want to know if this person enjoyed the book and would recommend that I buy it, so yes I enjoyed and recommend buying this book.

I love Sandra Hill's ability to make me laugh out loud. This book was one that kept me chuckling all the way through.
OK, It's not a serious tale that will tug the heartstrings, it won't stick with you or leave you sighing. It's not that kind of story and she's not that kind of author. If you want fun entertainment, I suggest picking up this one. Compared to some of her other books, this one is much sillier. A time-traveling Viking finds himself in the middle of SEAL training? What I didn't like about the execution of this premise was the hero seemed, well, a bit on the dumb side. If he just didn't understand the modern world I could overlook it, but that didn't seem to be the case with Ragnor. Other than the hero's "cute but dumb" personna, the book was amusing, entertaining and left me smiling.

I loved this book. It was funny, interesting and I couldn't put it down. This is one of Sandra's best writes. She kept the story going with new interesting things. It wasn't stuck in the same place all the time like a couple have been. Can't wait to get into the next one in this series, Hot and Heavy. I love the time travel books too. Good job Sandra, keep them coming.

All right, I admit the thing that first attracted me to this book was the plot: time-travelin' Viking tries his hand at BUD/S training. I'm a sucker for the military romances. While Hill certainly bent over backward to keep the suspension of disbelief (and it slipped a time or two or fifty), what kept me reading was not the premise. Hill's dialogue sparkles with wit and humor. Her characters are interesting. And did I mention the wackiness? Thank God she threw in a lot of humor, because I don't think I could take this plot seriously. I had a great time with it, however, and am looking for some others by her.
