Recipe for Cosmo-punch !!!, May 18, 2006
This review is from: Wild Moose Party (Audio CD)
Mix 1 ounce each of dance-club frenzy and wild & wooly wit.
Shake vigorously with cracked ice and I-N-F-E-C-T-I-O-U-S rhythm.
Strain into tall party glasses. Garnish with a twist of humor and decorate with a generous portion of crazed exuberance.
Bottoms up!
Splurge on this one! Cool & clever, charming & bizarre, it's music to laugh and gyrate with. I'm one of the lucky ones that fell under the Cosmo spell two decades ago and never found my way out. What a feast this is. And what a delight to be transported back to that zany galaxy, not so far away, where seam-bursting creativity took the Cosmopolitans to the studio and the stage.
The BIG surprise on this CD is the VIDEO - no bland, corporate MTV gloss either. With this rough-cut gem from the Cosmopolitan archive, you see the real thing, as these genies of outrageous talent blow the cork off the bottle and break out of the asylum. Dance, rattle and roll. And turn your friends on to this one-of-a-kind testament to quirky originality and unabashed fun.

The Cosmopolitans are FAB!, April 21, 2006
This review is from: Wild Moose Party (Audio CD)
The Cosmopolitans are "New Wave Like It Oughta Be", with a totally unique and original sound. "How to Keep Your Husband Happy" is ironic and retro, and "Doug" is a very clever song based on the true story of a woman in NYC who loved her husband to death, so to speak. A great bonus on the album is a music video of the group performing. Jamie K. Sims, one of the group's founders, has gone on to a career as a composer of classical music.
How to describe the Cosmopolitans sound? Imagine Devo with "girl singers who dance" and you'd be close.
This is a special and unique bit of musical history. I wish they were still around!

You Go-Go Girls, April 19, 2006
This review is from: Wild Moose Party (Audio CD)
Love it. My first impression is this is what a girl group might look and sound like at a county fair funhouse. Somehow, the Cosmopolitans manage to be both earnest and irreverent at the same time, blending girl group sincerity with post-80's irony. Throw in a dash of post-modernist smarts and one becomes wistful that the Cosmops didn't churn out a few more gems like "Husband Happy" and "Party Boy." But most of all, it's simply a rollicking good time and fun stuff for the entire family! Buy it today.
