Recipe for Cosmo-punch !!!,
This review is from: Wild Moose Party (Audio CD)
Mix 1 ounce each of dance-club frenzy and wild & wooly wit.
Shake vigorously with cracked ice and I-N-F-E-C-T-I-O-U-S rhythm. Strain into tall party glasses. Garnish with a twist of humor and decorate with a generous portion of crazed exuberance. Bottoms up! Splurge on this one! Cool & clever, charming & bizarre, it's music to laugh and gyrate with. I'm one of the lucky ones that fell under the Cosmo spell two decades ago and never found my way out. What a feast this is. And what a delight to be transported back to that zany galaxy, not so far away, where seam-bursting creativity took the Cosmopolitans to the studio and the stage. The BIG surprise on this CD is the VIDEO - no bland, corporate MTV gloss either. With this rough-cut gem from the Cosmopolitan archive, you see the real thing, as these genies of outrageous talent blow the cork off the bottle and break out of the asylum. Dance, rattle and roll. And turn your friends on to this one-of-a-kind testament to quirky originality and unabashed fun.

The Cosmopolitans are FAB!,

The Cosmopolitans are "New Wave Like It Oughta Be", with a totally unique and original sound. "How to Keep Your Husband Happy" is ironic and retro, and "Doug" is a very clever song based on the true story of a woman in NYC who loved her husband to death, so to speak. A great bonus on the album is a music video of the group performing. Jamie K. Sims, one of the group's founders, has gone on to a career as a composer of classical music.
How to describe the Cosmopolitans sound? Imagine Devo with "girl singers who dance" and you'd be close. This is a special and unique bit of musical history. I wish they were still around!

You Go-Go Girls,
This review is from: Wild Moose Party (Audio CD)
Love it. My first impression is this is what a girl group might look and sound like at a county fair funhouse. Somehow, the Cosmopolitans manage to be both earnest and irreverent at the same time, blending girl group sincerity with post-80's irony. Throw in a dash of post-modernist smarts and one becomes wistful that the Cosmops didn't churn out a few more gems like "Husband Happy" and "Party Boy." But most of all, it's simply a rollicking good time and fun stuff for the entire family! Buy it today.

A great bunch of songs that nicely fill in that niche in all of our collections called: nothing else like it. Imminently catchy rhythms and melodies. THE COSMOPOLITANS capture a moment between punk and new wave that is eerily enjoyable. And get this, these gals possess the hallmark of what separates a truly great pop/rock band from an ordinary one...the harmonica. Great harp licks all over the place. Plus, a healthy dose of lyrics that are clever, quirky and absurd. Tongue-in-cheek is their modus operandi. If you like early B-52s, Cyndi Lauper, XTC, The Suburbs, Hoodoo Gurus, Oingo Boingo or Wall of Voodoo, you'll enjoy the novelty of their songs, and soon find yourself realizing that these gals are more than refreshing...they're good!

Do yourself a favor and buy this for yourself and everyone on your gift list. I mean it. I wasn't one of the hipsters in the '80s who was lucky enough to experience the Cosmopolitans live in NYC clubs, but I can experience them now on CD. And I do...nearly every single day. You'll love every song on this CD and will want to crank it up at your next party. Let the dancing begin!

A Gem Comes To The Surface,
This review is from: Wild Moose Party (Audio CD)
There are so many facets to this gem, I don't know where to begin. I'll just throw them out in no particular order. The clear, raw, but not distorted rhythm section really seems to jump out of the speakers. The double girl vocals are also classic. Once the lyrics begin to unfold, a classic comedy begins ...... It's also a little like the Weekly World News (The Worlds' ONLY Reliable Newspaper) when Chevy Baby gives the story of a woman trading her baby for a Corvette. There's nothing on this CD that will put you to sleep. The whole thing will hit you like a Jolt Cola chased by Double shot Cafe Amerilatte Venti Grande Double Caf with Half and Half, but with none of the calories or jitters.....well, maybe just a few of the jitters....but them's goooood jitters, foot tappin' jitters.

Partying with Moose,

This review is from: Wild Moose Party (Audio CD)
There are few albums that inspire me to get up and dance like a fool and, dare I say, form a girl group of my very own! Then again, I should probably just stay home, take the wise advice of the Cosmopolitans, and keep my husband happy! In short, Wild Moose Party is a ton of fun and gets heavy rotation on my various playback devices.
