5.0 out of 5 stars A Tense Page-Turner March 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As with anything J.A. Konrath has published, this is tense. I'm not familiar with Ann Voss Peterson, but she obviously has a similar sense of pacing. The only downside is that it's a short story and like eating a cookie sample you're left wanting more. Still at .99 cents, it's a great value. I read a lot of thrillers, but the twist ending here was unpredictable. I'd recommend this for anyone who likes fast-paced stories with loads of tension.

5.0 out of 5 stars A big bang for your buck! March 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book yanks you left, then right, and just when you think it's over...you get clotheslined. It's awesome.

The first and second halves were each written by different authors, but it blended so seamlessly that I had forgotten that it was. Konrath and Peterson are a great match!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yelled out loud March 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
WOW! This was my first read by either of these authors. Twice during this short story I blurted out "Oh My Gosh!" It took me by surprise a couple of times! I'm so glad I bought and read this story! It was very succinct and riveting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever short story May 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Good twists, good descriptions. More could have been done with it - the characters have potential to expand beyond the confines of this short story.

And it IS quite short - when you open the ebook, the story actually ends at the 60% mark - the rest is excerpts of other stuff. I guess that's why it's only 99¢ - right?

5.0 out of 5 stars A guessing game March 23, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This one kept me guessing for such a long time. Then I was saying to myself, why, why is this happening. Until finally it all came to the conclusion I had yet to guess. What a twisty twisted twist.

Two friends are separated while stupidly agreeing to go to a party with two boys. Desperately trying to find her friend we keep wondering what's going to happen to these girls. So many emotions running through this one. Worry, disgust, concern, and finally you're left wondering, WHAT!?

I enjoyed this short story. Written by Ann Voss Peterson and J.A. Konrath both parts blended seamlessly. I wouldn't have even known it was two different authors had I not been told.

This one was well worth it.

More importantly, there was a preview of an upcoming book by the same authors, Flee. I cannot wait to read that one. I was left with growing anticipation of this novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short Konrath-Peterson collab fun. March 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great story with an excellent twist. Everything that you can expect from Konrath. This is my first time reading anything from Peterson. She'll be worth checking out later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Enjoyable. July 11, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story set the mood just right, it was fast paced and did not muck around with anything. It was very short unfortunately and I for one would be hanging for a sequel to find out where the authors could take the characters and this plot.

Honestly if there's any proof of that true gut "Leave you wanting more" feeling, this is it. The first twist, I was ready for however I thought that was where we were going to head to the end. But than someone grabbed a baseball bat and hit this one out of the park. Because the final twist truly comes from nowhere.

Well worth the read, especially just before you go to bed (only takes around 30 minutes to an hour to complete).

Not much to this. A fast read with a double-twisted plot. You think you got it figured out, then you don't. Some gore...the usual horror stuff.

3.0 out of 5 stars wild night is calling
the story line is fantastic. the reason I gave it a so so rating is it's very short and so not worth the money. I expected a longer, more involved story.

I really like how the story developed it was gripping and fast paced. I think it could have been expanded on and made for a fun story but then again it is a short story.
