shocking! excellent!,
By inbreath/outbreath "a reader" (North, on the way north) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wild Nights (Paperback)
this book is one of the best i`ve ever read, and i read my share. but then i deeply respect and admire david deida, and have experienced time after time that even reading his works can open ones heart up and give taste of the deeper realm.
this book has scenes that is quite interesting, to say the least - and it is a great test to "stay open, as love" or suffer from the hearts contraction, fear and aversion. one of my late inner fascinations is the truth that we will have to accept lifes ambiguities. rarely can one find masters and teachers like ramana maharshi, for instance, which are nothing but saintly purity. krishnamurti is an example of a wise man, strongly illuminated and full of wisdom. then, another time, he is clearly full of prejudgement and aversion. so most people would say "oh, he is so wise and beautiful" (which is true), and other would say "he is an angry and judgemental old man" (which is also true). this books exposes clearly that one will have to accept the complexities, and trust ones inner, deepest truth. and of course, my short review can`t make justice to the richness and variety of insights. mostly it is about the heart, about love and openness. i will soon read it again, and if you believe you can get anything out of it (without retracting into judgemental attitudes or easy generalisations) i urge you not to hesitate to find a copy. i read it in a day, still digesting! bon apetite!

Adds colour to the Deida oevre,
By Sebastian Opol "Sandwich Island" (Anchorage, AK USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wild Nights (Paperback)
Deida has written so many guides to emotion and spiritual growth, so it was refreshing here to get a much more colourful sequence of lessons. Though his own experiences with an intensely charismatic teacher, the book is a sequence of extraordinary anecdotes that inspire and entertain as well as teach. While I get a lot out of his other books, especially Finding God through Sex, this is a great companion book.

Finding God in the midst of Chaos and Filth,
By Sammy Angels (Belgium) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wild Nights (Paperback)
I must admit, I've been a big fan of David Deida for some time now. I had read the Way of the Superior Man and most of his other 'guidebooks', but I was always intrigued when I encountered passages from 'Wild Nights'. At last I decided to order the book, and I was not disappointed.
Following the guidebooks, one can easily skip over parts of life they don't like, parts that scare them, parts that make them feel dirty. This book grabs you by the spiritual balls, and won't let go until it's pushed your face through all the nitty gritty reality of what it means to be Love in this Red Realm of flesh, filth and human emotions. This is spirituality in its rawest form. No New Age airy fairy crap, just the real deal. Bodily fluids, sex organs, fear, anger and jealousy, the stuff the average new ager tends to ignore as if it weren't there. It's not for the faint of the heart, only for those with the courage to take their practice to the next level. Are you ready to open amidst the chaos? Can you breathe the Big Lady down? I believe it accurately portrays some of the very real obstacles one can face during a life of openness, pushing the limits of Love's capacity. And it shows that even the most 'advanced' practitioners/guru's still have their human kinks...

Destined to be a classic. This book will ravish a generation.,
By Ploughstar* (London, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

As shocking and transformational as the Marquis de Sade's "Philosophy of the Boudoir" and Plato's "Dialogues" rolled into one. A truly profound book which will resonate with you long after reading it, wolfed down in one sitting most likely. This feels like Kerouac's California 50 years on: the ardent yab yum enlightenment of today's dharma seekers. Refreshingly honest, open and inclusive, "Wild Nights" will chime with anybody who has wanted to pursue the ineffable truths we often encounter using sex or drugs, but rarely find words to express. This book will ravish a generation. Destined to be a classic.

The nights are especially wild because you cannot put this book down, despite a luscious lover next to you!
But no worries, they'll get theirs and more after you've finally finished it all. You will want to start the adventure of discovery that Deida conveys ... immediately.

Mixing sex with sacred, far from typical,

David Daida is a real sex guru in a healthy way. I've read three of his books and they all take the reader towards seeing sex as tantra, sacred, and/or enlightened activity. This is not new age-y, nor anything mystical-shmistical.
It's not your typical orgy, and it's a scene that I wouldn't recommend anyone try without a very seasoned guide. Even with a seasoned guide, someone could get hurt for a lifetime, as he describes toward the end of the book. I read "The Way of the Superior Man" with less interest. I feel his best is "The Enlightened Sex Manual: Sexual Skills for the Superior Lover." This explains why "men don't get it" and how they can. It is superior, definitely. Far above the typical, physical-level sex guide. Marianne Williamson, Ken Wilber, Genpo Roshi and Lama Surya Das have all given well deserved endorsements on the back of this book.

I LOVED this book and read it in a sitting. As soon as I was done I passed the book along to a friend, but now I want to read it again. And again.
'Tis not for the faint of heart, or those who are easily offended by the F-Bomb being used repeatedly and often times in the same sentence as God. This book has seriously shaken my perspective on love, spirituality, and sex. I have more Deida on the way to me now!

Spiritual levels of true love and sex,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wild Nights (Paperback)
David Deida has poetically written this spiritual novel with his heart wide open. Not only is it a beautiful story of a group of friends exploring sex as a way to open to god, but a way to open your mind in new ways. I love this book.

This was amongst the most mind blowing books I have read. It instantly gave me a mind shift and allowed me to see things through a way I had been trying to see them for the past year. Highly recommend and believe that if you have any issues with the opposite sex and sex in general this book will blow your mind.
