Buy This Album!!,

I own 81 cd's and this truly is my favorite. All the songs are amazing. Theres a mix of upbeat dance tunes, mid-tempo songs to sway to, and ballads. So this cd could make anybody happy. Any fan of R&B or pop could appreciate this work of art. Each song has soemthing to offer for every taste. If you wanna get your groove on on the dance floor, My Tambourine is right for you. If you want something thats not quite slow or fast, then you'll like River and one of my faves...You Don't Own Me. If you're into slow mushy songs, you'll be stuck on my personal favorite, I Won't Play The Fool Anymore. I had the cassette tape for this album several years back and I lost it. It was so good that I had to buy it again. You really should give this cd a try. You won't regret it.

Great singing, good songs,

I would certainly recommend this album. Good songs, great singing. "Follow me" is gorgeous, and "My Tamborine" is seductive, playfully demanding, and delightfully feminine. These ladies should have gotten a lot more attention then they did, yet big-time success always seemed to elude them. Why did they consistently stay below pop radio's radar? They were drop-dead gorgeous, very talented and seemed to be quite warm and approachable. Why then the resistence of pop radio? Most likely because the composition style of their songs harken back to the early seventies, without the analog bare-bones production qualities that gave that era's music its distinctive sound. These ladies wrote songs that could have easily fit into the pre-disco phase of pop music, which might not have had the appeal in the mid-nineties as it did way back when. "Wild Orchid" does sound very slightly overproduced, but the ladies can sing so well as to more than compensate for their slick production values. While all the songs are quite well-written, I believe that radio during the early to mid-nineties was looking for the grunge thing, not the attractive pop sensibilities that Wild Orchid had in abundance. If they had arrived on the scene twenty years earlier they would have been huge; even if they had come out ten years after they did, they could have given Britney and Christina a run for their money. They just weren't "at the right place at the right time", and in show business, that's a killer. Another reason why this group wasn't bigger might have been the decision to present themselves as a trio, rather than bringing Stacy Ferguson out front (a la Diana Ross and the Supremes). If you listen to some of Wild Orchid's music after Stacy's departure, it's more restrained and a bit less inspired. Miss Ferguson was the member most able to shine on her own. Perhaps if the group had capitalized on Stacy's incredible pipes and notable beauty, they would have hit bigger. Understandably, the ladies are friends and probably didn't want to encourage jealousy or ego-trips. Apparently they choose their friendship over doing what was necessary for success. That's rare these days, and quite admirable. It's a good record, boyant and lively, even inspiring at times. As Mark Knopfler once said, "It was right, it was just that the time was wrong."

Wild Orchid is an exceptional group with amazing talent. From the gospel-tinged "At Night I Pray" to more reflective pieces like "The River" and "Life" and funky/sexy numbers like "My Tambourine" and "He's Alright", Stacy, Stefanie and Renee never disappoint with their voices, passion or charisma. My personal favorites are probably the power ballads like "I Won't Play the Fool" and "Follow Me", which showcase their tremendous harmonies and vocal ability. Wild Orchid's debut is both powerful and empowering for the listener. I would recommend both this album and their follow-up, Oxygen, to music lovers without hesitation, and I look forward to their upcoming album (....)

Best debut album I have ever heard!,

Talk about incredible voices. These three women who just happen to be absolutely stunning can outsing Mariah Carey any day. They have great dance songs like "Talk to Me" and "Supernatural" and some of the most beautiful ballads I've ever heard. "I Won't Play The Fool" and "Follow Me" are amazing. These women need to start getting some recognition. They are better than anything out there. Someone needs to explain to me why the Spice Girls are a hit and not Wild Orchid! Buy this CD! You won't stop playing it!

HOT!!,

Anyone who thinks white girls can't sing R&B hasn't heard Wild Orchid. Stacy Ferguson, Renee Sandstrom, and Stefanie Ridel may look like Charlie's Angels, but they belt with the fervor of a gospel choir. A few ballads on their debut droop, but smooth harmonies and slick arrangements on "Supernatural" and "Talk to Me" provide true flower power, both were huge hit's on the Billboard Pop Chart aswell as the 20 week BIllboard Pop chart lasting "At Night I Pray"!

Superb Debut,

Probably the most talented girl group to hit the scene since En Vogue, Wild Orchid seemingly got lost in the promotional shuffle back in 1997 when they debuted with this album. Released a couple of months after the onslaught of the Spice Girls, they actually preceded such pop rulers as Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and Destiny's Child. This album was all but overlooked, with a couple of songs just barely registering on the charts. First single 'At Night I Pray' is one of the few times a pop group like this can pull off an r&b-edged track and sound credible. They also traffic beautifully in various other styles of music, among them dance('Talk To Me') and pop balladry('Follow Me'). While the song listing is flawless, the chief draw here is the singing--I defy anyone to find a group, male or female, who have the vocal chops these girls do. It's like having three Christina Aguileras in one group, without the vocal bombast and lack of nuance. Highly recommended for fans of great pop music.

Amazing debut, but they came and left so quickly.,

I fell in love with these three girls when I first saw their music video for "At Night I Pray" ... three very beautiful ladies with three very powerful voices. I can't tell you how overwhelming these girls are - just listen to this CD! From the looks of it, it looks like this album has been discontinued..how unfortunate. Anyway, I heard that one of the members of the group (I think it was the blonde) left the group to pursue a solo career ... so unfortunately, we may not hear more music from them. This CD is one to cherish! The vocals and the songs are to die for.My favorite tracks would without a doubt have to be "At Night I Pray" which displays their amazing vocals and the upbeat, fun "Talk To Me." The music videos made for these were as amazing as the songs!

THE BOMB CD,

It is very rare that you can find a cd that you can listen to ALL the songs and not get tired of it. These three ladies have voices that would make Mariah wish she was in their group. I first caught on to their music when I saw them on television. They are the best vocal group in a while, and that is a 100+ compliment from me.
