I just bought this ATM for my son's 9th birthday at a local chain store and he loves it. It took a little playing around with until we figured out how to correctly input the amount of dollar bill deposits and withdrawls. (Hint: insert dollar bill, THEN enter the amount in whole dollars after it says 'deposit dollar.') It seems to keep an accurate count of the money and is not difficult to use at all once you do it a couple of times.

BUT here is where we had a problem with it: this bank is supposed to TALK and make some kind of noises. Mine is silent, won't say a thing. So I emailed Wild Planet from their website and told them of the problem and asked if they had any suggestions. They quickly wrote back and said that customer service is a priority of theirs and that they would immediately send me a new one. Now THAT is excellent customer service. I know I will not hesitate to buy another Wild Planet toy in the future if they stand behind their products like that!

My daughter was very excited about this gift but we almost concluded it didn't work - it started out with a balance of $16.08 and we couldn't get it accept any withdraws. Finally we figured out the following and now we are 100% satisfied:
1. To re-set balance to $0, hold down keys 1,2, and 3 simultaneously for about 5 seconds. (This is near the end of the instruction sheet.)
2. You cannot deposit and withdraw consecutively. You have to take the card out and re-start after a deposit in order for any subtraction (withdraw) to be accepted. (We figured this out through trial and error. Otherwise it will look like the subtraction function doesn't work.

I purchased this for my 5 year old. After carefully reading all the instructions and the tips here in the Amazon review section, we have had absolutely NO problems. He thoroughly enjoys putting his money in, the fact that his big brothers don't know the PIN number, and that he can store other items in the lockable drawer. I plan to purchase these as Christmas gifts for my nephews too!
