I guess I don't know what I expected, but this is pretty much a standard baby-doll. It may be slightly softer than most, and I have to admit that I have not held the baby when filled with water, but without the water it is pretty much the same as most dolls. My granddaughter DOES like to take her babies in the bath with her though...and this one can go there.
