I purchased these as an alternative to tuna for a quick source of protein and source of omega fatty acids. They were delicious and quite sizable compared to the sardines I have purchased from local grocers or convenient stores. They did not taste salty or metallic like some of the other brand I have tired. The biggest selling points for me were the fact that they were wild caught and had a relatively low sodium content. I have added these to my automatic shipments. I would highly recommend these to anyone who likes sardines and cares for the environment.

I've been eating Wild Planet sardines for about a year now and they have never been anything but high quality. Every pack contains 4 to 5 large firm sardines. Much more flavorful than the type I would typically purchase in the super market. In addition to that I love the fact that the company cares about sustainability and putting out a high quality product. I highly recommend them.

I like getting the "in water" variety, draining the liquid and pouring in my own choice of olive oil or mustard... delicious snack!

Im not a sardine lover, but eat it for its traditional health values. Over the last few years, Ive tried several other less expensive brands from the local supermarket. Recently, I decided to pay the extra money and try this one from Wild Pacific. I'm really impressed!!! I can see myself becoming a sardine lover for life now. The other brands smells noticably fishy. WP brand has a cleaner fish smell -not offensive. Also, the other brands sardines appear to be pressed flat into the can, and sometimes here and there, a fish or two was mushy. WP brand sardines still have the original form of the fish, and is firm -you can see where the head and tail of the fish use to be. I have a sensitive digestive system, and would experience indigestion for several hours after eating the other brands, but this one went through my system with ease. No fishy burps, and no burps -period!

I tried to give the less expensive brand sardines to a stray cat that was stalking me for food one day, but the cat refused to eat it. The cat looked at me with an expression as if to say 'I can't eat this bulls**t! What else ya got?'. Same thing happened when I gave canned salmon AND tuna. I decided to share WP sardines with the cat, and he/she dove right in. That was an eye-opener for me.

I have tried a few different brands (haven't tried expensive cole's yet) and these are actually tasty. three large sardines with black/silver skin in the can, they remain very well intact, not mushy. noticed the texture of one or two bones, which weren't mush like most brands but not so hard that they were unpleasant to chew. tasted fresh as well. plus they use sea salt. whew. sardines i actually enjoy. cool.

they really taste like tuna, which i've never associated with sardine taste. you could definitely make a mock tuna salad with these. seriously. :)

This is the first time that I have tried Wild Planet sardines. I can't say that they are the best that I've had, but they are very good. The taste is fresh, and quite pleasant, with no comparison whatsoever with anything I have purchased in the supermarket. The only ingredients are sardines, water and sea salt, which is another plus, in my view. The sardines are caught in the Pacific Ocean and processed in Vietnam. Someone in another review questioned the freshness of the product, suggesting that they were transported to Vietnam for processing. However, the Pacific Ocean does border Vietnam, so I would suppose, rather, that they were caught in the Pacific off the coast of Vietnam, or thereabouts, processed, and then shipped for sale in the United States and elsewhere. The idea that they were transported from California to Vietnam for processing probably came from the fact that Wild Planet Foods is headquartered in McKinleyville, California, but I see no reason not to believe that they were caught off the coast of Vietnam, canned, and then shipped to California for distribution. Either way, while I might rather they be processed in the United States, I am not overly troubled by the fact that they were processed in Vietnam. The sardines taste fresh, they taste good, and I see no indication of anything less than beneficial.

Scale-free, these sardines are "considered a Best Choice for Sustainability by consensus of environmental organizations,"as it says on the back.

The only trouble with the Sustainability factor here is that apparently some of the money spent on this product goes solely to a certain few who have strong-armed the company to push the kosher-mafia symbol "U" onto the front of the box: a union of rabbinical leaders.

Other than that, these sardines are second only to bristling sardines in water (by Crown Prince Natural), which are healthier still and free of the "U" tyranny if a bit more expensive. Freedom isn't free. But tyranny is economic catastrophe.

Have tries all the other large names. King Oscar came the closest for my husband until he tried Wild Planet. Although sometimes the fish can get a little larger than his liking the flavor of the fish is always good. He prefers the brand in the water so he can flavor with oil/mustard or whatever he wants to. I just wish Wild Planet would make the Brisling ones - I only eat the small sardines.
