Christine does it again!,

This review is from: Wild Rain (Leopard) (Mass Market Paperback)
As the usual Feehan fan, I had to have this book the second it hit the shelves. Part of me was disappointed that it wasn't the next sexy, exciting Carpathian of her fantastic series. We all have to admit that we're addicted to these guys! So as a prelude to reading this book, get out of Carpathian mode and have a totally new set of expectations for Wild Rain. This isn't the first book Christine has written featuring the jungle creatures who have the amazing ability to transform into leopards so I was very curious as to how this one would play out.To truly enjoy this book you have to immerse yourself into the jungle and Christine does a phenomenal job of drawing you into the steamy, hot, jungle. The main characters each had their own set of strengths and weaknesses. I especially loved that Rachel was one tough cookie who was totally out of her sheltered element and still managed to fearlessly take on a dangerous jungle as well as dangerous Rio! Rio's lonely existence had to pull on your heart strings and touch the souls of every day people who have been just as isolated and shunned by today's society as he was in the jungle. I could go on and on, but I'll just end by saying GO BUY IT! Escape your normal day and venture out into Christine's jungle, full of mystery, danger, adventure and steamy l'amour!

A Jungle Walk...Wild and Wet,
By Rose! "varicolour-rose" (Enola, PA) - See all my reviews

Rachael knows that she is hunted, the reason is clear to her and her only recourse is to disappear, loose herself completely in the wilderness. In the luxuriant wildness of the jungles of Borneo, she hopes to find a modicum of safety, and at least the illusion of the peace that she lost with her parent's murder. She was counting on the fact that no one knows that she is here, but she is wrong. Danger has stalked her, and found her even here, deep in this jungle paradise. Now she has to decide what she needs to do and who she can trust. She has not expected the handsome stranger, nor the attraction she feels towards him. She is frightened and alone, and no matter how brave a front she puts up, she knows that she is in trouble, and the dark and handsome Rio Santana can be the answer to a prayer, or sudden death. The whole thing boils down to a matter of trust, can she trust him, is the big question that must be answered. The only problem is that she is soon afraid that he has stolen her heart. This lush and wild jungle that he calls home is his sanctuary and his prison. He is at once ruler, and prisoner. Rio doesn't know if the beautiful stranger may be the cause of his death or his ultimate salvation. He is hunted, wanted, and an outcast from his people, and all because he wanted justice. He is loyal, and although most have turned their backs on him, he continues to protect them. His wariness and suspicions about Racheal are well founded, but the woman's presence stirs something unexpected in him...the urge to mate, and claim her for his own. There is something not quite right about this whole thing, and although he senses her difference, he is surprised by her naiveté. She is schooled in the ways of the jungle, but is seemingly unaware of the very differences that has haunted his people for ages. Her wariness shows she too, is hunted, and Rio swears that somehow he will protect her, win her trust, and make her his own. Christine Feehan has once again taken us on a trip far different than what we are used to from her. WILD RAIN is an exquisitely told tale of two people fighting for life and the right to survive, and eventually finding love beyond all odds and their wildest dreams. This masterfully told story is light-years beyond the Dark Series, and encompasses a whole new world. Her characters move beyond the dark tales of the Carpathians, and lead us into another world of lush and colorful jungles, vibrant life, and a different kind of creature. If these are the shifters of the jungles, the kin to the ones the Carpathians know of, she may tell us, then again, she may not. That, however, has no bearing on these tales. These stories are special in their own way, and assuredly wonderful reads, Kudos To Christine Feehan. She definitely has another wining series here! Yours in good reading,

I agree with the reviewer that said this book was good but,,
This review is from: Wild Rain (Leopard) (Mass Market Paperback)
I agree with the reviewer that said this book was good not great. I, too, am a huge DARK SERIES fan and understanding Ms. Feehan is attempting something new with her (Wild Rain) tried really hard to love this one but the best I could come up with is to convience myyself this story will get better as I read the book a second time. I liked the characters and for the most part the plot but at times I just couldn't stay focused because of the jumping around. That being said I would still recommend not only this book but all of Ms. Feehan's books. She's a terrific writer.

I waited for this book to come out for what seemed like FOREVER, and when it did I was not disappointed. Wild Rain is one of those books that keeps you on edge until the very end. In Wild Rain both the hero and heroine are hunted by enemies and haunted by their pasts. They meet in a clash of wills and love with the same blazing fervor. I really love how suspenseful Christine Feehan made this book. There were times when I got really annoyed when the heroine wouldn't speak about her past, and then there were times when the hero's attitude really got on my nerves. There was a bit of blood and gore in this book that definitely made me cringe at times, but didn't take away from the love story. Wild Rain was a wonderful book, and another smash hit of Christine Feehan's! I loved it!

MUUAHAHAHAHAA!,

When I heard the plot for this story, and the fact that it was by Feehan, I had to get it. I am a fan of her Dark series, and this book, though not of the Dark series, is perfect as well! 371 pages long, but not as long as it sounds, I finished it in a few days. ((Ooohhh! + there is a gorgeous pic of Rio! *droolz*)) NE WAYS: the story is slow, I think, in only one way ~ Rachael is way too darn stubborn to reveal why she is wanted dead and doesn't let it out until dang near the end. Other than that the story is really, really, REALLY GREAT! If I could I'd rate is 12*, but it can only go up to 5 *grr!* I would say much more about why I like the book, but I'd give away plot information, and I don't wanna be blabbering out the whole story unless you ask. So, basically, I luv this book, I wish she'd have a sequel- Drake, Joshua, or Elijah's story!!! ANYBODY! !!!Get it!! I LIKE MORE THAN I DO ANY OF THE `DARK' BOOKS! THERE I SAID IT! MUUAHAHAHAHAA!

Feeham has reinvented herself!,

This book was an exciting adventure to read! Feehan has completely seperated her writing style from any she has done before and succeeded in doing so! I recomend this book to anyone who enjoys reading books with a prenaturnal edge. I eagerly anticipate additions to the Leopard series. If you decide to read this book you'll also want to read her novella, The Awakening, in the anthology, Fantasy. That is where the Leopard series is born . I just can't express how great this book is. You will not regret picking it up. The story of Rachelle and Rio in the rain forest is enchanting. You will, no doubt, love it too!

Buy it. Read it. You won't be disappointed!I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Ms. Feehan wrote a similar short story in an anthology some time ago, but due to the word restrictions, could not do the storyline justice. Not so with this book. This book is excellent, on par with her dark series. I hope there will be many more books regarding these sexy jungle shape-shifters in the future.

Having read all Feehans' other work, I found this book to be interesting & worth reading, but not a powerful as her others. The story line is something new, jungle, shape-shifting and super loyal characters. The depth is just not there.

Christine Feehan has once again launched her readers into a world where anything can, and usually does, happen---with a nice, big dose of the sexy paranormal thrown in. Feehan fans and newcomers alike won't be able to help being enthralled by the lush setting of this book, the hunky hero, the sleek jaguars of the jungle, and a heroine who is too damn spunky to let a little matter of being hunted get her down. Definitely a winner!

Excellent!!! Wildly imaginative,

This is the first novel I've read of Christine Feehan and I loved it! It brought together my two favourite genres (romance & fantasy (paranormal etc.). Christine Feehan introduces readers to a whole new world full of primitive danger and the mysteriously unexplicable. Readers shall adore the hero & heroine as their characters are so likeable (Rio's alpha male traits and Rachael's wit and bravery... and the plot is very imaginable (I love it!). It reminds me a little of "Jungle Boy". For those who want 2 know what the novel is about...Rachael Lospostos is a hunted woman with a one million dollar price her on head. She comes from a rich family who sells drugs and is very very powerful. She believes that her brother and uncle are trying to kill her. Remembering her dead mother's stories, she flees to the rain forest for sanctuary. But there she finds another kind of danger...from the exotic creatures that live in the forest who aren't quite human...They are the leopard people - they can shapeshift from "human" to become leopards. They aren't quite human but they aren't wholy leoprd either...they are another species which has existed unknown for thousands of years. She finds sanctuary in what she believed to be an empty shack only to wake up attacked by Rio Santana and his two leopard friends (these two leopards are ordinary animals). Rio Santana is a man banished from the leopard people. A man who constantly lives in danger, making a life for himself saving others from risky situations. He has made many enemies and believes that Rachael is an assassin sent to kill him. He attacks her. She defends herself but comes face to face with one of his leopards who savages her ankle, injuring her seriously. She falls ill and Rio is left trying to save her leg. She recuperates in his home where they forge a relationship. Inexplicably, they find themselves receiving flashbacks from a previous life where they were lovers...upon this Rio believes that he has found his soulmate. But Rachael finds out she is not who she thinks she is...Her pursuers from the outside world are hot on her trail and her brother is not far behind. Rachael struggles to get well while Rio tries to hold off and defeat the enemies in a deadly game of cat and mouse. Rachael's enemies are not ordinary...they are specialised killers (leopard shapeshifters like Rio). Rachael gets better and she and Rio get help from an unexpected source and they band together to kill off Rachael's pursuers once and for all including her evil uncle who has blackmailed and controlled their lives...since the day he murdered their parents. |
