This review is from: Wild Ride (Mass Market Paperback)
Wild Ride By LuAnn McLane is a pulse pounding sexy and sassy anthology.

Whiplash has Travel Writer Andi Cooper being assigned the story of writing about the hot vacation spot. Wild Ride resorts is not on her list of places she would ever want to go but this is a plum assignment and is willing to give it her best shot. Oliver Maxwell's resort is becoming a must visit vacation destination, he would really like it to get an excellent write up in a travel magazine to help it grow. Max and Andi's first meeting is off the charts in sexual chemistry. They both agree to put their relationship on a more professional level but their bodies have other ideas.

Hold On Tight is Krista Ross's story. Krista is Max's right hand woman, she is in charge of entertainment and the like. She has agreed to pose as country superstar Travis Mackey's girlfriend to give him a rest from all the groupies. Krista hadn't planned on her own deeply buried country roots calling her to spend all her time in Travis's arms. Travis a former bull-riding champion had turned to singing to make a living but something is missing from his life. He thinks he has found it at the Wild Ride Resort. Krista and Travis on the surface seem so different but their attraction and caring bring them together.

Worth The Wait have Cole Forrester and Jenna Wagner agreeing to spend a platonic vacation together at the resort. Tricky since both have the hots for each other. Neither thinks the other returns the same feelings but once they act on them all bets are off. Cole and Jenna really burn up the pages. Their friendship over the years helps them to work through any misunderstanding they have outside of the bedroom.

Wild Ride is a smoking hot anthology. Each story adds a different and exciting twist to each couples passion. The resort adds an exciting and tantalizing element to each story. Looking forward to the next book by LuAnn McLane.

5.0 out of 5 stars One fast ride!, March 7, 2006
By
This review is from: Wild Ride (Mass Market Paperback)
WHIPLASH Oliver "Max" Maxwell, owner of the very adult Wild Ride Resort, has never wanted to be with a woman the way he wants to be with travel writer Andrea "Andi" Cooper. With her long legs and fiery red-gold hair, Andi is a temptation that Max cannot resist, despite the fact that her review of his sexy resort could make or break its continued success. Andi Cooper was determined to loathe the resort, certain that Max had ruined a beautiful stretch of Florida beachfront with a tacky amusement park. She could not have been more wrong. From her first encounter with Max where they're both mostly naked in his kitchen to sun-kissed days and magical moonlit nights, Andi falls in love with Wild Ride Resort. The only question is whether she's falling in love with its owner as well. HOLD ON TIGHT Krista Ross, an entertainment coordinator for Wild Ride Resort, is not at all happy with her bosses' insistence that they hire country music superstar Travis Mackey to entertain the crowd at their Labor Day concert. Krista swears she has never been a country music fan. Once she meets Travis Mackey face to face and spends time with him, she decides there's nothing wrong with liking country music or those who sing it. Travis Mackey thinks Krista Ross is an uptight woman in a tight little body, and when she agrees to pose as his girlfriend to ward off other women for the duration of his stay, he discovers that there's much more to Krista than meets the eye. Finding the real Krista takes Travis on a ride much wilder than the bulls he used to ride in the rodeo. Will he be able to convince her to take a life-long ride with him? WORTH THE WAIT When Cole Forrester's friend has to cancel his honeymoon trip to Wild Ride Resort, Cole immediately offers to take the trip and he invites his sister's best friend, Jenna Wagner, to go along with him, simply as a friend. Cole finds himself in a real dilemma when their agreed-upon vacation fling leaves him wanting much more of Jenna than just their one week at the resort. Jenna is a tad intimidated by Cole and his intense maleness. He is much more experienced than her when it comes to passion and intimacies, but not so much that she's not willing to make the most of their week together. Jenna finds herself suspicious when the resort's fortune teller predicts that Cole is in love with her. Is it possible that there could be a future beyond Wild Ride Resort for Jenna and Cole? These three tales are scorching hot and Ms. McLane has done an outstanding job of packing an incredible amount of passion, sensuality and emotion into each one. The stories immediately follow each other in sequence and all of the characters and their surroundings are cleverly tied together. WILD RIDE unquestionably earns its spot on the keeper shelf. 5.0 out of 5 stars LuAnn McLane takes you on a Wild Ride!, March 7, 2006
This review is from: Wild Ride (Mass Market Paperback)
"Whiplash"

Indiana farmgirl Andi Cooper has seen it all in her career as a travel writer, and is known for her honest and straightforward opinions when it comes to her reviews. This time the presence of her company is requested specifically by WIld Ride Resort owner Oliver "Max" Maxwell. Andi is not too thrilled to be reviewing a place that in her mind is the equivalent of an eyesore, but the owner insisted and Andi is determined to do the best job she can, but she's going to be honest. No way is she going to give the place a 5-star review just because Max is a good-looking charmer....

Max loves his resort, loves fixing the roller coasters that he grew up with, and believes his resort offers something extra for adults beyond another amusement park. He truly believes Wild Ride is special, and he thinks once Andi Cooper gets to know the place more intimately, so will she. Max isn't prepared for their initial meeting, or for his reaction to the lovely and tempting Andi. But this is about business, and Max promised himself he would not interfere in order to win brownie points. But he's having a difficult time keeping his hands to himself...

"Hold On Tight"

Krista Ross is Max's right-hand woman, taking care of the all those big and rich details and setting up the entertainment for his resort. Hot country star Travis Mackey has requested to stay at the Wild Ride to relax before starting another grueling tour, and it's up to Krista to make sure Travis relaxes and enjoys his stay, no matter how high maintenance this former rodeo rider has become in his rising singing career. Professional and serious Krista grits her teeth and gets the job done while trying to ignore the charming and sexy cowboy, despite thinking that yeah, maybe he actually can sing....

Uptight entertainment coordinator Krista sets Travis' blood on fire, as much as he'd like it to be otherwise. This sexy no-nonsense blonde is determined to make his stay at the resort enjoyable, all in the name of business. But Travis is really tired of people sucking up to him, trying to impress him, and right now there's nothing he enjoys more than agitating this fiesty woman and getting under her skin, just like she's getting under his.....

"Worth the Wait"

Jenna Wagner has had a serious crush on Cole Forrester since she was a teenager, and those feelings have blossomed into love over the years. But Cole is a player, and Jenna is not willing to be another notch on his bedpost. Besides, he treats her like another sister. So when his real sister and new husband can't go to the Wild Ride resort for her honeymoon, Cole asks his friend Jenna if she'd like to go in their place, each paying for half the price and enjoying the amusement park, even going their separate ways if that's what they choose to do.

Cole knows Jenna's thinks he's a player, and it's his own darn fault. But recently Cole's feelings have started to change, and a lot of that has to do with his friendship with Jenna. She has become more important to him than he even realized, and now all he wants is a chance to prove his feelings are real, and forever. Taking her to the resort is his way of being alone with her, and showing her exactly how he feels. Turns out that his little school teacher might have a little bit of a wild streak in her after all.....

One of the aspects I love about LuAnn's stories is the colorful dashes of humor she sprinkles throughout her stories that mix really well with the charming small-town feel of the characters. It's refreshing to read about people that lead glamourous lives but are not so worldly and jaded that they take their pleasure carelessly and often. I also enjoy LuAnn's stories because they are romantic, and intimate, not just cookie-cutter versions of today's more erotic stories, which I actually happen to love, but feel the need for a more traditional, satisfying romance. She creates likeable, charming characters that readers immediately care about, and reaching the happily-ever-after is definitely worth the ride. I continue to look forward to future stories by one of my favorite authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars HANG ON COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS!, August 1, 2007
By
This review is from: Wild Ride (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a fun, romantic, sexy and luscious anthology of three stories that take place at the magical and hot Wild Ride Resort. I liked the lady characters, Andrea (travel writer), Krista (hotel Exec.) and Jenna (schoolteacher), and their masculine counterparts. I really enjoyed the setting and all the adult fun that takes place after sunset. The roller coaster was fun that stops right in the hotel. I can still smell the coconut oil, feel the sun, and sense all the excitement in the jacuzzi. Other reviews have covered the plots, suffice to say everyone find total love and outrageously fine sex. The book is filled with mature, confidant men and women. I liked it and passed it on to a friend. Mahalo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot, Hot Read, June 27, 2006
This review is from: Wild Ride (Mass Market Paperback)
This is an anthology with interlocking stories written by LuAnn.

The first story is Whiplash - Andrea (Andi) Cooper is a travel writer, but when Janelle Port of Living Large magazine calls to offer her a terrific assignment she tries to turn it down. Apparently Oliver (Max) Maxwell, owner of Wild Ride Resort an adult amusement park had requested her to do a feature for the park. Andi does not approve of how he has ruined the Island it is located on, but there was no getting out of it. Upon arrival, Andi and Max meet under circumstances that cause an embarrassing misunderstanding. Right from the beginning Andi and Max are like striking a match in combustible material. Is Max just after a "five star rating" any way he can get it?? Or is there more to this interlude??

The second story is Hold On Tight - Travis Mackey is an ex-pro bullrider turned Country Star after a near fatal accident. Krista Ross is the director of entertainment for Wild Ride Resort, but actually is the "right hand man" for Max. She has a prejudged concept of what Travis is going to be like, and a don't mess with me attitude. Travis cannot put his finger on what it is about her that stirs his blood right from the initial introduction. This is a great story that finds Krista having to fight childhood issues and prejudices when she finds that Travis is taking down all her defences. Travis on the other hand is determined to unearth the real Krista that he can see snippets of at times, and wants this uptight, hot little number to be his exclusively. Can he bring her around to his way of thinking ??

The last in the anthology is Worth The Wait which finds childhood friends, Cole Forrester and Jenna Wagner, filling in for Cole's sister and her new husband on their honeymoon trip which had to be cancelled for unforeseen reasons. It was to late to get a refund, so they thought it would be a good idea to use the trip up. Jenna had always had a crush on Cole when she was younger, and figured that since she was now older she could handle this since she was over him. Big mistake. Cole finds himself in a catch 22 clause when he desires to have Jenna for more than just one week. Can he get her to love him the way he loves her??

These three intertwining stories are hot. They will burn up the pages and have you fanning yourself, but they are well written, and packaged as they are makes for one hot, hot enjoyable read.

4.0 out of 5 stars three amusing, lighthearted contemporary romances, March 8, 2006
This review is from: Wild Ride (Mass Market Paperback)
"Whip Lash". Living Large Magazine editor Janelle Portwood assigns travel writer Andrea Cooper to do a story on the highly successful Wild Ride Resort theme park for adults. She reluctantly accepts the assignment, but makes it clear she is unhappy with what owner Oliver Maxwell has done to the pristine island. They meet over a mustard-stained T-shirt and before they even know each other he gets her to come. That is followed by more sexual encounters as neither can stop their desires.

"Hold on Tight". Former rodeo star Travis Mackey has become a country music sensation with a hit single. Wild Wide Resort Entertainment Coordinator Krista Ross hires him to perform at the adult amusement park. However, once they meet, she wants a personal performance and he needs to make her his only fan in the boudoir.

"Worth the Wait". As a teen Jenna Wagner loved her friend Cole Forrester, but he only wanted a friendship with her. Now twenty-nine the schoolteacher assumes she is over her youthful crush and can share the honeymoon suite with him on an agreed upon platonic vacation as their newly married friends cannot go at this time. However, Cole soon finds he no longer wants a gal pal as he finds he wishes to make love with Jenna; she realizes she lied to herself about no longer desiring her roommate.

These three novellas are amusing, lighthearted contemporary romances starring likable protagonists. Readers will enjoy the HOT SUMMER NIGHTS at LuAnn McLane's WILD RIDE resort.

1.0 out of 5 stars 1 star, March 9, 2006
This review is from: Wild Ride (Mass Market Paperback)
Andrea Cooper has no desire to review the Wild Ride Resort, seeing it as an abomination of a hotel. However, she has no choice; Oliver Maxwell wants her or no one to write up his resort. Then, she meets its charismatic owner, Max himself, and finds her views changing, but does he want her or a good review? Then, his executive assistant, Krista, finds a certain cowboy melting her defenses and getting around her prejuidice against country music and cowboys. Yet, it couldn't be more than a fling, could it? Finally, two guests find that Oliver's hotel is the best place in the world to discover love that results from friendship.

* These stories are simply not long enough to really develop the characters and plots well. As a result, there is lots of action, but little substance. *
