Truthfully, I love the Wailing Souls. I don't know a reggae fan that doesn't. But I honestly disagree with the notion that this is their best material. It is certainly in the same category as their awesome roots vibes of the 70's, and far better than the synthesized music the band would later stray toward (ugh!), and both the sound quality and packaging are great (it comes with the entire dub album on one cd), but I definitely prefer "Firehouse Rock" and "The Very Best of The Wailing Souls". Certainly check those two albums out!

I usually don't write reviews but was looking around and noticed that this cd had been rated at 4 stars and was really suprised? I Love the Wailing Souls they are one of my favorite reggae bands. And in my opinion this is their best cd. From the opener Row Fisherman Row straight through They Never Know. This really is a must have cd!!!!!

I like Firehouse Rock but I don't think It's as good as this cd. In fact I would place Firehouse Rock 3rd. 1) Wild Suspense 2) Inch Pinchers 3)Firehouse rock 4)Tension 5)On the rocks 6) Equality (yes there newer stuff is great and even though modern it's still ROOTS) 7)Reggae in a firehouse .... I kinda agree to a with the comment above regarding the late 80's & early 90's releases being garbage. Actually I would just say they were not very rootsy they were trying to be too modern and that caught alot of fans off guard, who were looking for their traditional roots music.

featuring tempo shifts and their well known harmonic stylings the Wailing Souls score big with this... there is no known equivalant in reggae to the up and slow tempo (within the same tune) as Row Fisherman Row- pay the money strictly for that... the rest of the album is good, but their best (as we all know if we are fans) is Firehouse Rock, one of the two or three best reggae albums ever released. Haven't ever heard of them? Buy their early stuff- the late 80's, early 90s music is garbage. I have heard rumours that their recent releases have gone back to their roots, but until I hear it, I ain't believin' it. tp
