5.0 out of 5 stars A Gem and a Classic
This is Graham Nash at his best. He reveals a side of his songwriting not seen anywhere else. It's a little bit raw and edgy and thoughtful and most heartfelt. Yes, it's set squarely in the revolution of the late 60s and early 70s, yet it still carries appeal and charm and inspiration.

3.0 out of 5 stars For Extreme Graham Nash Fans Only
As a response to all the rave reviews, I found Wild Tales okay and pleasant, but not essential. If you have to buy one Graham Nash album, stick with Songs for Beginners which has at least 4 classic songs.
Because of similar musicians, Wild Tales is like Neil Young's Harvest without Neil's songwriting, guitar or voice. It is also 31 minutes long. With filler, you end...

5.0 out of 5 stars Overlooked classic, September 9, 2002

Being a huge Neil Young-CSNY fan, I had bought Graham's first solo cd "Songs for Beginners" and was really surprised how great his solo cd was (you should check it out!!). However, I having recently purchased his 2nd solo cd "Wild Tales", I was literally blown away by the great, classic tracks on this masterpiece. Graham Nash doesn't have the super-genius of Neil Young, but he's essentially assembled Neil's "Harvest" band to create a wonderfully consistent and timeless piece of work. I would honestly say that virtually every song is a keeper on first listen (which is saying alot considering CSNY's sometimes spotty song selection). Just buy it NOW and crank it up --- Ryan Adams only wishes his band sounded this good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Profound!, April 20, 2006
This review is from: Wild Tales (Audio CD)
Graham Nash has been one of the most profound artists to date. My daughter was born when this was released in 1973, and my Life at the time was troubling to say the least. "Wild Tales' was my saving grace! You are 'transported' into the story of the songs, and all else 'falls away'. 'Wild Tales' is an absolute MUST in anyones collection! Timeless!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Day it came out, September 19, 2005

I bought this when it originally came out in 1973. My 23-year old brother had died in a car accident 6 months earlier so I was "all tore up". This album and Songs for Beginners soothed my aching soul for many years. I don't know how these songs stand up in the historical perspective of CSN. Some of the songs do sound a little dated now. I know every song on these two albums by heart because I sang and played along for years and lived them. Friends were going to prison for 20 years for a joint in Texas and Graham was just singing and writing about what was going on around us. What a back up band he had back then. David Lindley was superb. I liked Graham so much I named my white German shepherd,"Nash" after him. He was my best friend for ten years. We named the cat, "Crosby". I never missed these guys in concert with and without Stills and Young. Wild Tales is a little more up-tempo than "Songs for Beginners." It's all a matter of taste. If you like CSN then you'll like these first two solo projects by Nash

This album is one of my personal top 10. Truly a must for any CSN fan. I believe Crosby and Nash's solo work was as good, if not better to me, than CSN as a whole (Except the CSN album)

This album is an a must for anyone who attended a tertiary institution in the early to mid seventies. The harmonies are great, the lyrics are poignant to anyone who lived through this time and the tunes are superb.Best track, maybe of all time- Oh Camille. This song has it all.I couldn't live the rest of my life if I was told it was illegal to listen to this song. In short, one of the greatest albums ever written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another nice trip to Nashville -- I just had to say that!, September 30, 2008

Graham Nash's sophomore solo effort has a comfortable twang to it. It appeared a few years too early to ride on the current crest of pop-country, perhaps, but thank goodness for that! This is far too sincere a songwriter, and the songs come from a time we can now refer to as a more innocent age. For this reason, the ten songs here are that much more precious. The timeless 'Prison Song' features Nash's trusty harmonica, and even if 'You'll Never Be the Same' sounds almost like old-fashioned pastiche, he pulls it off convincingly for a legendary rock and roller. And listen to that voice -- ! Agile and mellow, chirping and crooning by turns, it is complimented by quite the ensemble. The whole warm cozy aggregate forms the aural equivalent of home cooking and comfort food on song after song

'Another Sleep Song' is on repeat right now ... it goes down particularly easy on the ear. Tomorrow another number may well have the same effect!

Without any doubt, this is easily Graham Nash's best album. Every track is a gem and grows on you with every listenning. I would rate it with any CSN / CSNY album. A classic album well worth adding to the collection!

Superb, overlooked album that manages to showcase one of the biggest talents in music today. Every song ranges from good to excellent. However, Songs For Beginners is even better.

4.0 out of 5 stars A superb yet overlooked album., June 16, 1999

An enchanting album. Simple yet mesmerizing songs, with indeed outstanding cuts such as "And so it goes" and "Another sleep song". A bit too mellow perhaps at times, but not in the context of the early seventies. A very intimate experience overall. Graham, if you read this, you should know I grew up in... Lebanon, listening, playing and singing this album with my friends... Thank you!
