Book Description

While most dryads had abandoned their woods to live amongst mortals, Dessa continued to guard her forest in Afghanistan and waited for a man to eat the fruit of her heart-tree and become her mate. But when her tree is destroyed, Dessa tries to live in the mortal world--where she is reunited with Lt. Nick Leandros, the soldier who once ate the nuts from her tree and now struggles with the trauma that turned him into a Chimera with the ability to split into three different bodies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bound to Read August 4, 2009
By L. Rice
Format:Kindle Edition
Prepare yourself for a journey through a world that mixes the war-torn Afghanistan of today with the sultry, mythological beasts of yesteryear when you pick up Stephanie Draven's Wild, Tethered, Bound.

A quick and satisfying read, Draven's knack for weaving ancient mythology through the complexities of military life, finding one's identity, and realizing love can truly seize you at any given time, brings you close to two very convincing characters without even noticing that you are breaking the bounds of reality and dancing on the edges of fantasy. Through Nick and Dessa, an American soldier stationed in Afghanistan and a Dryad with a longing to save the last forested areas in a war zone, one is transported through a world of "what if's" that collides with a sexual tension too great for our hero and heroine to control. The limits of their humanity are broken, and each soon magically unravel while being wrapped up in each other at the same time.

Truly, Wild, Tethered, Bound is a delightful, sexy, page-turning read with lust, danger and love around each plot turn. I would recommend it to anyone who might find themselves wanting a quick foray into a hot, sexual fantasy -- though I'd read it alone so that no one can see the blushing.

More About the Author

Stephanie Draven is currently a denizen of Baltimore, that city of ravens and purple night skies. She lives there with her favorite nocturnal creatures-three scheming cats and a deliciously wicked husband. And when she is not busy with dark domestic rituals, she writes her books.

Stephanie has always been a storyteller. In elementary school, she channeled Scheherazade, weaving a series of stories to charm children into sitting with her each day at the lunch table. When she was a little older, Stephanie scared all the girls at her sleepovers with ghost stories.

She should have known she was born to hold an audience in her thrall, but Stephanie resisted her writerly urges and graduated from college with a B.A. in Government. Then she went to Law School, where she learned how to convincingly tell the tallest tales of all!
