Terrific Sunday School Book for Midschoolers,
By Janice M. Wishau (Los Alamos, NM United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wild Truth Bible Lessons - Dares from Jesus (Paperback)
This is an excellent book to use with midschool kids. It involves a quick preparation of only about a half hour. The games and lessons are fun and of high interest to young teens. We have used 3 books by Mark Oestreicher in the past couple of years in our mid-school class. We will continue to look for books containing his outstanding work.

Interactive & Active learning for your mid-high students,
By Heidi "Heidi" (Atlantic, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wild Truth Bible Lessons - Dares from Jesus (Paperback)
How do you keep a room full of mid-highers occupied and interested and coming back for more each week? Mark Oestreicher is a veteran youth worker and more passionate about this age group than anyone I know. If you are interested in doing more than just indoctrinating your youth this series will help them think big thoughts, confront their questions and begin to embrace their own beliefs as they journey through this crucial stage of adolescence. This type of teaching isn't for the sermonizing type. Mark gets you all involved in the lesson. Different activities, games, illustrations and talk sheets teach them the focus of each lesson in so many different ways that it layers the truth in so subtly that they really walk out of class grasping the `wild truth' without feeling like they've had to sit through the `Sunday sermon'. Your students will be doing interactive learning, this isn't a lecture series - but it's why they keep coming back. They learn from each other as much as from you. This type of curriculum will work for Sunday mornings, youth group teaching time or even a home group, and each lesson can be tailored to your style of teaching and the size of the group you're working with. Great stuff!

My daughter is a 6th grader and she hates to read! I purchased this book for her and she loves it! It is a good book.

Commonplace,
By Barth (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wild Truth Bible Lessons - Dares from Jesus (Paperback)
This reminded me of most of the lightweight jr. high curricula out there. It lacked a spark of creativity and originality, and seemed more the work of someone who was just trying to generate books to supply his publishing company.I used this with my youth group at church and got mediocre feedback.

Blank Stares,
By Janice Smith (St. Louis, MO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wild Truth Bible Lessons - Dares from Jesus (Paperback)
When I tested a few of these lessons with my Jr. Highers, they gave me a lot of blank stares. The games rarely rose above the level of tag, the activities were something like cutting pictures out of magazines, and there is zero content. I'd never buy an Oestreicher book again.
