So they only had one big hit tune, and that was a couple of decades ago (or so it seems)! So what?! The infectious title cut is perfect for those warm summer nights when you want to drive around town with your windows rolled down, bopping to a beat. But most of the other songs are also not bad, making this release well worth the low purchase price.

I had this music on a cassette and am so happy to find it again on CD. It is has great quality and anyone from the "Vietnam era" will feel it.

Digging thru my old 3 drawer cassette storage box (from the '80's) I found some old gems. The Escape Club's "wild wild west" being one of them. I happen to have an excellent bookshelf Panasonic stereo AM/FM CD Cassette player in my hobby room and popped it in. I think this was their best stuff with Goodbye Joey Rae being one of my favorites. I plan on downloading the MP3 of this album. I have their "dollars and sex" album on CD and its way too disco for me.
Wild Wild West was their best in my humble opinion.
While digging thru that old storage box I also found Wall of Voodoo's "Call of the west" and XTC's "Drums and Wires" and 3-D's self titled album with "X-Ray Eyes"...other great '80's albums.
The '80's had some cutting edge music that I think a lot of us have forgotten about. The coolest thing is that the younger crowd really loves these songs if when hear them. Thats one reason I love Amazon, because you can usually find all of those old favorites.
Keep it going Amazon!

I first heard to Escape Club after someone came back from NY with the Wild Wild West album on their bag. The song was a real hit in town and was playing everywhere. I borrowed the album and couldn't wait to listen to this music everyone was speaking about. I have to say that although I thought the album was alright on the overall, my first impression was not very good. Except for the title track, Goodbye Joe Rae and Walking through walls were the only tunes that got me. In fact, I could not stop listening to Walking through walls and I still think it is one of the best songs of those days. However, the album was not interesting enough to get me into those guys and go out to buy oehter stuff from them.

Anyone who was there, remembers how well this fit into the 80's. Anyone who was not there will want to add this to their queue of things to listen to, read or experience, if they want to better understand the 80's. From the opening number that tells it like it was:
...Gimmy gimmy Wild West, Gimmy Gimmy Safe Sex, Gimmy Love, Gimmy Love, Give me time to live it up!...
Exactly what we were all looking for at the time, to warnings about our leaders:
...Sitting in the back room, Waiting for the big boom.... Gotta live it up, live it up, Ronny's got a new gun...
It's all there.
Pure, clear, on pitch vocals. Perfectly crafted pop and some blues to boot. Goodbye Joey Rae will hit home to anyone who had someone not quite survive Vietnam or another "Foreign War" in their lives for a while who went before their time. Especially if they made it home a live, but not entirely sane or entirely healthy.

There is not a song on here that is not well crafted and worth the purchase. Loved it so much that I wore out a tape and a CD so I bought it again on MP3!
