Wild West magazine has been around for some time. Every issue presents several articles, reviews, and editorial departments dealing with a wide range of events and (mostly) people of the American West. Often, there are stories on subjects that have not been as widely covered as some, such as American-British confrontations in the "fifty-four forty or fight" era.

Articles are popular, rather than scholarly, even though many are written by university professors. Most have suggestions for further reading for the benefit of people who want to dig into their subjects more deeply. Illustrations are generally good, although they often are old favorites (e.g, the old Billy the Kid daguerrotype). The book review section tends to cover recent productions of the main university presses, along with memoirs and histories by non-scholarly writers and memoirists.

Wild West offers enjoyable light reading for anyone interested in the age.

This magazine is a class act. The articles are well written, documented, interesting, and entertaining.

Wild West is the last periodical left that truly presents true stories of the old west as we remember it from TV and movies. Make no mistake about it, WW is quite a bit more stylish and AD choked than the great western magazines of the 50s through the 70s that were chock full of stories, but it still manages to hang onto its two fisted roots. WW contains a good amount of ads like all magazines do these days, including a heavy emphasis on books, and especially art. If western art is something you favor, you will love this magazine for what it offers. Even though it is a more modern version of the old classics, it still carries a generous amount of true stories of the golden west that are very well written, and tremendously interesting. WW also has several different regular monthly departments that also relate really interesting shorter stories that are every bit as well written as the main articles. Despite the glossy feel and look, and the ads, WW still manages to remain a true throwback to the days when western magazines were as common as video game periodicals are today. Trust me when I tell you its the last of its kind. What was once the old standby, "True West" magazine that has been around for more than 40 years, quite a few years ago went modern with very little in the way of real old west stories, and a lot more articles on modern ranching, advertisements for vacations, and even fashion! Forget it, WW is the real thing. It is excellently written, reasonably priced for a 6 issue subscription, and the last real magazine holdover from the great days of the American west. Highly recommended...

Got this as a gift for my Dad, who is a Western History buff and he loves it. Money well spent!

This is a fabulous magazine and the price was better than other places I looked. You can't go wrong with this magazine if you love the Wild West era. It is informative and the writers do well-written articles.

I ordered this item on 9-2-10 and have still not received the magazine or a notification about their getting my order. This is not a very professional way to do business.It is 10-20-10 now - I think I should have heard something by now.
