Book Description

Harlequin Blaze September 1, 2002
She was wild...

Mia Quentin has found the sensual adventure she's been waiting for. Seth Chandler-- a gorgeous corporate shark in pirate's clothing-- is the perfect candidate for the sexy fling she has in mind. She'll act out a few naughty suggestions and indulge her senses...all before the sun goes down. Now, if she can only convince her pirate to drop the noble streak and stop talking about commitment!

...and willing!

Seth refuses to settle for a brief fling, but he can't resist the too-tempting Mia. So he has to lure her into a longer erotic encounter...one that involves days, weeks of sizzling caresses. And if that means using all the seductive powers he has, so be it. Because he's not about to let this ravishing woman get away.

From the Author

Dear Reader,

As much as I love sizzling contemporary romance, there is also a place in my heart for a hot historical, too. Imagine my pleasure when I discovered a way to rope these two loves together in the opening pages of Wild & Willing. Tampa, Florida’s Gasparilla festival allowed me to write a modern day pirate sailing into harbor, ready to carry off the damsel of his choice.

Of course, this being a Blaze, the heroine had to be every bit as bold and brash as her pirate hero. In steps Mia Quentin, modern maiden on a mission! She’s not only ready and willing to indulge in a sexy kidnapping scenario with Seth Chandler; she’s out to make sure he can’t possibly choose anyone but her for potential ravishing.

If you enjoy Seth and Mia’s steamy Florida adventures, don’t miss my 2003 Blaze, Wild & Wicked, which revisits Gasparilla and all the fun that ensues.I’d love to hear from you!

Happy Reading,

Joanne Rock

3.0 out of 5 stars okay, but a little boring, March 30, 2003

I found this book to be a little too predictable and the hero and heroine still seemed unfamiliar by the end of the book. Also the sexual scenes seem stilted and forced like the author was rushing to get to the end of the story, an unusual characteristic for a Blaze novel. All in all a decent read if you are hours away from the bookstore with no means of transportation.

2.0 out of 5 stars More than a little boring., August 5, 2011

There are some books that are just so good you never want it to end. There are other books where you keep frantically reading because you want to see how it's going to end. And then there are some books where you read to the end because you've already invested the time and money.

This book fell in option three.

I kept reading, hoping it would get better and by the time I figured there would be little hope in that happening, I'd already invested the time and opted to see it through. I have to say, this is one of the more boring books I'd read in a long time. After the first chapter, it was a snoozefest.

I have to admit that the first chapter did draw me in, but nothing, and I mean nothing, happened after that.

Mia is an artist working in her grandparent's failing tourist shop trying to get it in the black. Seth is a billionaire CEO and owner of the bank the tourist shop owes money to. Mia goes to Tampa to talk to the bank about extending payments, but decides for once in her life she's going to embark on a wild adventure aka a fling. Seth is the man she's chosen to have the fling with, but due to circumstances of how they meet and his own personal convictions, he opts to resist her overtures.

She later finds out who he really is and he sets about wooing her into a relationship against her will.

It was a nice meet cute, but that's about all this book had going for it. I found Seth to be both annoying and weak, and for whatever reason, I never connected with Mia's character. There was a sub-story in that Seth's uncle started a relationship with Mia's mother and that romance was actually a better story than what was going on with the main characters of this book. By the half way point, I was so bored that I just didn't care how Mia and Seth worked out their differences and by the end of the book I was just glad it was over.

Trudgingly boring. Two stars for the interesting beginning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simmering energy, relentlessly daring, September 10, 2002
This review is from: Wild And Willing (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Mia Quentin will put herself in the path of the first pirate she spies. With a red hibiscus behind her ear, her skirt torn daringly high, and a red lace bikini beneath, Mia plans a hot afternoon in the arms of a stranger. With a bit of persistence, she puts herself in the arms of corporate shark Seth Chandler, pirate for a day, making it clear that she is wild and willing.

Seth does not think much of participating the publicity stunt. He intends to capture a grandmotherly type who would revel in the adventure and provide terrific p.r. for Chandler Enterprises. With an actor quitting at the last minute, however, Seth cannot afford for anything to go wrong, and becomes a sexy pirate complete with an eye patch and bare chest.

Mia got more than she bargained for with the pirate who refuses to take advantage of her offer of a brief fling. She must return to a life of overwhelming responsibility that leaves no time for romance. He must convince her otherwise. Indeed, it may take weeks of sensual promises and erotic possibilities to convince Mia of the value of commitment.

Author Joanne Rock has a gift for penning wickedly delicious romance with fabulously erotic escapades, which WILD AND WILLING delivers with flair! Mia's desire for a quick fling before she returns to responsibility will echo the fantasies of most readers, but Seth's attitudes are certainly unexpected. Of course, a guy who believes that commitment means living together still has a lot to learn. The subplot is equally delightful with Mia's unorthodox mother finding love as well. Further, quirky humor, including grandparents who really want to sell bad t-shirts and squeaky toys from their gift shop, will keep readers wildly entertained. WILD AND WILLING comes very highly recommended.
